Susan Robinson & Jo Shaughnessy , Co-Founders
Susan Robinson and Jo Shaughnessy opened the Salford office in February 2016, after finding Home Instead while seeking care for Susan’s mother. They were so impressed by what Home Instead Senior Care had to offer, they decided to bring this special blend of caring to their local community.
Susan had owned and managed two exciting businesses in the past and more recently had volunteered and worked in several primary schools in Salford. A large proportion of her time involved developing relationships between school, families and the wider community.
Jo has enjoyed supporting and advising businesses throughout her accountancy career. Jo’s other passion is people and she felt quite disheartened when searching for quality care for Susan’s mother. However, ‘when we talked to Home Instead National Office about the ethos and goals of the company, we quickly realised that Home Instead Senior Care is a company that we would be proud to be part of and represent. Home Instead Senior Care delivers exceptional care and people are at the heart of everything we do.’
In October 2017 the Salford office was rated ‘outstanding’ from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of health and social care in England. Outstanding is the highest rating available from the CQC. and Home Instead Salford has achieved the standard less that two years after opening the office.
In summing up the caring nature of the business inspectors wrote, ‘The feedback we received from people who used the service was unanimously positive both about the care they received and the CAREGivers. People consistently told us CAREGivers provided an excellent level of care which was dedicated, compassionate and centred on what they wanted.’ They went on to say, ‘We saw specific examples of where CAREGivers had gone ‘above and beyond’ for people who used their service.
Susan and Jo are delighted that their team have been recognised for supplying ‘tip top’ care and are determined to continue to do so. Jo and Susan believe ‘together with the other 200+ Home Instead Senior Care offices throughout the U.K. we can, and we will change the face of ageing. With 55+ offices already receiving ‘outstanding’ from CQC and Home Instead Senior Care receiving the Queens Award for Innovation in 2016 for Dementia Care . In addition we have been granted the Princess Royal Training Award for end of life care. The Princess Royal Training Award is a new honour for employers that have created lasting impact by successfully linking their skills development needs to business performance. Home Instead Senior Care is one of only 34 UK businesses from a wide range of sizes and sectors to have achieved the prestigious Princess Royal Training Award’s standard of excellence in training.
