The Wimbledon & Kingston office of Home Instead Senior Care which specialises in providing care for the elderly in their own homes has brought festive cheer to the community this Christmas by organising the ‘Big Christmas Gift Wrap’.
With Christmas just around the corner we are all faced with those extra Christmas tasks such as gift wrapping, writing Christmas cards and decorating the Christmas tree. These may be small tasks for some but daunting for others, particularly the elderly.
A team of Caregivers from Home Instead have transformed into Santa’s little helpers this week and visited several locations in the area, including Rathbone House, Louis Black House, The Wimbledon Guild and Christ Church with St. Philip to wrap up Christmas gifts free of charge.
Clare Jefferies, owner of the Wimbledon & Kingston office, said “As Christmas is a time for giving we wanted to give something this year to the community and we felt that giving our time was such a simple but effective gesture that could really benefit those struggling with the fiddly jobs of wrapping presents. We really enjoyed talking with the residents and had a great time wrapping some wonderful looking gifts that have been bought for friends and loved ones.
“Christmas is all about spreading festive spirit and it was a delight to see how much the extra help was appreciated. We also managed to get plenty of practice before wrapping our own!”
