Before opening Home Instead in Northampton, Ray Warburton sprang to fame as a professional footballer. With a career spanning over 20 years, Ray has played for many clubs, including: Rotherham United, York City, Rushden and Diamonds and most famously Northampton Town. After captaining Northampton to the Wembley play off finals for two years in succession, Ray finally hung up his football boots in 2005 and is now opening his own at-home care company in the area.
Ray has this week launched his new business venture at Moulton Park Northampton and is keen to provide high-quality at home care for elderly Northampton residents.
Having experienced difficulties trying to find quality, flexible care for his wife’s father who lives miles away in Rotherham, Ray wanted to provide a service that was nationally renowned for providing top-quality at-home care.
Immediately after hanging up his football boots in 2005, Ray worked for a property developer before being made redundant. This was the catalyst for him to start his own company; something he had always been keen to do. Ray commented: “I was lucky enough to have a great career in football and that will always be an important part of my life. However being made redundant really made me evaluate what was important to me and what I wanted to achieve. It was then that I decided it was time to start my own business.”
He continued: “Having spoken to many existing Home Instead owners and hearing such positive things about the business, I was really keen to get involved. I owe a lot to those that made me feel so welcome when I transferred to the area 17 years ago. I hope that by providing high-quality at home care for elderly locals; I will be able to give something back to my community.”
Ray has been married for 18 years and his wife Jo will also be helping out with the administration side of the business. The couple have 2 children Samuel and Ellie-Joe and outside of work Ray is the under 16s coach at Northampton Town FC.
