Home Instead – Greenwich & Bexley joined the forces in food re-distribution to help less-advantaged people!

Home Instead – Greenwich & Bexley joined the forces with a local charity, Skills & Care Greenwich and food chain, Marks & Spencer in re-distribution of surplus food to needy people in Greenwich and surrounding area. Home Instead – Greenwich & Bexley will provide a pool of volunteers to collect the food from local M&S store in Charlton and Woolwich and deliver them to less-advantaged people. We are so proud of our office staff and CAREGivers who volunteered for this good cause.

Our Director, Fatta Thapa, who volunteers himself to organise pick-up and delivery of the surplus items, said - “I was amazed to see, how many people rely on these donations, and yet the UK food waste is around 20m tons every year, which is equivalent to £23 billion in annual value!” He also said that through this food re-distribution project, how Home Instead volunteers are contributing not only in feeding hungry people but also reducing the food waste and improving these people’s health & well-being by providing fresh fruits and vegetable donated by M&S. Although, the recipient of the re-distributed food are from various ethnicity and cultural backgrounds, but there is one thing in common, and that is their “Age” – majority of them are older people. We feel very privileged to be able to help these needy people as much as we help our clients in remaining independent in their own homes at Home Instead.

Home Instead – Greenwich & Bexley is the number 1 homecare provider in the UK with over 180 offices, nationwide. We pride ourselves in providing bespoke, tailor-made care to older people in their own homes so that they can remain in the community for longer. The care is delivered by our CAREGiver, who are hand-picked on the basis of their personality and caring nature. These CAREGivers are then trained to the highest standard before placing with a client.  As we match our CAREGiver with our clients on the basis of their personality and interest, they build long-term, sustainable relationship with the client and our emphasis on continuity of care enable us to achieve that.
