Information & Resources

The ground-breaking family workshops were adapted from the company’s City & Guilds accredited dementia training programme, specifically developed for Home Instead’s CAREGivers. They help both family carers and community members to identify the typical signs of dementia and gain a better understanding of the condition, as well as arming them with effective techniques for managing the many different and sometimes challenging behaviours associated with the condition.

This practical, modern & interactive approach to training will be run in two 2½ hour sessions. The second part of the workshop will be held later in the year, with dates being confirmed shortly after the initial workshop.

A panel of experts with a variety of knowledge within the field of ageing has worked with Home Instead Senior Care to develop the Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias CARE training programme, including:

  • Robert Stein, President and CEO of American Society on Ageing;
  • David Troxel, author of the “Best Friends Approach to Alzheimer’s Care”;
  • Tanya Marie Richmond MSW, CRCC, LCSW Chapel Hill School of Social Work.

If you would like more information on times and dates of workshops, please call our office and speak with Lesley or Rebecca.

The Senior Fraud Protection public education programme from Home Instead Senior Care is designed to safeguard older people from the many scams and cons that could jeopardise not only their life savings but their health and independence.

More than seven out of ten older people in Britain (over 6.6 million people) are targeted by scams every month and the National Fraud Authority estimates that £1.5 billion was stolen from older people in 2012/13.

Our programme gives older people and their families the information to help protect against scams and cons. We are happy to provide this workshop to any group, large or small ,that might benefit - please call us and ask to speak with Lesley.

We also hold monthly workshops at our office in Morriston, Swansea. Details are below:

Current workshops are full - more dates to be added soon. If you would like to be added to a mailing list, please send us a message.

All workshops start at different times, so please give us a call to book your place or make further enquiries.

I pay for a member of Home Instead staff to take my father, who has final stage Dementia, out once a week. The prerson who was matched to my father is great and Dad really enjoys his trips out each week.
