Our ageing population means that more older people need support and are not getting the care they need and deserve. Home Instead Sheffield we are often approached by families seeking quality support at home for their loved ones. To help look after these older people at home, we’re working hard to attract new people into the role of caring and we need your help.

We have launched a campaign called #YouCanCare to reach out to people who may not have thought about a career in care. We want to highlight how it is a truly rewarding job, which offers excellent training and flexible hours. The campaign is also about celebrating our CAREGivers who are out there every day making a difference to the lives of older people in the Sheffield area.

There is a constant need for people to come forward to help care for our older community. According to Skills for Care, home of the National Skills Academy for Social Care, there are approximately 110,000 vacancies in the social care sector at any given time. Our ageing population has created a huge demand for care services and we need to encourage more people to become CAREGivers.

At Home Instead, we have minimum visit times of an hour and match our clients with CAREGivers based on their hobbies and interests. It is this ‘personal’ approach which makes working at Home Instead so different and something we hope the care sector in general can aspire to.
