On Tuesday the 17th of March, Home Instead Sheffield will be hosting day 4 of their Free family Dementia Workshops.
Home Instead have already completed days 1, 2 and 3 of the workshops at Heeley City Farm and Tuesday will see them wrap up what has been a very successful series of workshops at the farm.
The number of participants has grown with each workshop with around 20 people attending the days 2 and 3 workshop which covered; Capturing Life’s Journey and Techniques to manage challenging behaviours.
Day 4 of the workshop will cover; Activities to encourage engagement and will provide in depth information on how to encourage someone with Dementia to stay engaged with others around them through the use of their senses.
Sarah Oldham, Home Instead’s Head of Care who delivers the workshops said:
“It has been a great series of workshops and we have seen the largest amount of attendees to date. We hope this is a sign that the awareness of Dementia is increasing and more people are wanting to gain some knowledge around the disease. Day 4 is a very engaging workshop because we look at using the 5 senses in order to get someone with Dementia to engage with others.
“We would like to thank Heeley City Farm for allowing us to host our workshops and everyone who has attended this series of workshops and helped make them a huge success.”
