A Weekend to Remember

Like Christmas and birthdays the Home Instead Senior Care conference occurs only once a year. It is a time where all of our offices around the country can come together in joy and jubilation over the accomplishments of the previous year. The conference was held in Liverpool at the Echo arena (located on the Albert Docks), and was held over a two day period, with one day catered towards franchise owners and the other day devoted to office staff.

We had a total of twelve people representing us at conference, and who made the journey from Sheffield to Liverpool in the early hours of the morning (I would be lying if there were no complaints). We arrived in Liverpool at about 9.30 and were greeted by a very happy head office team. Once seated in the main conference hall, a very passionate and motivational speech was delivered by the CEO and Co-founder of Home Instead UK, Trevor Brocklebank; highlighting all our successes and our ambition for the future. During the day we participated in various workshops set up by our head office, which were aimed at making improvements to our services for both clients and CAREGivers.

However a lot of focus was on the evening where the CAREGiver of the year would be announced. The awards were presented by Trevor and Sam Brocklebank, and our entry Julie was both a mixture of excitement and nerves. Julie was up against very stiff competition and although she didn’t come out on top, we all think she should be proud of achieving the top 5 CAREGivers in the UK. Julie’s mother Joyce was in attendance at the event, and after speaking with her, it was obvious that she also felt the same.

I think I speak for everyone when we say it was a thoroughly enjoyable weekend, and we have all come back with open minds and new ideas for 2014.
