Letters For The Elderly - Community School Project
Letters For The Elderly
To tackle loneliness & isolation within our communities, here at Home Instead Sheffield & Barnsley, we became inspired after Loneliness Awareness Week; a campaign run by the Marmalade Trust. Our idea was to create a project to tackle loneliness and isolation in our local Sheffield & Barnsley communities by contacting local primary schools, one local to each of our three offices, to propose the project of writing a letter, card or draw a portrait for our wonderful clients.
The response we have received has been fantastic, from teachers, our staff & children...
Louisa, a teacher from one of the local schools wrote:
"We have had a lovely morning writing letters & drawing portraits for Home Instead’s project, thank you for the opportunity, the children loved it!"
We are very appreciative to all three schools that have participated in the community project, and we would love to work with more local schools again, following the Summer half term.
Collaboratively, we can work together to end loneliness in our elder community.
Our best wishes,
The Home Instead Team.
