Celebrating the Jubilee with Care

At Home Instead, we provide home care to vulnerable adults within the local community that is expert, tailor-made and, most of all, personal. As a care company that, much like the entire Health and Social Care sector, has been greatly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, we were so looking forward to celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee this year - properly. We felt it to be imperative to not only to celebrate with our clients, but with our entire team of dedicated Care Professionals, too.

As many of the Home Instead clients are part of the elder population, we knew that many of them would be looking forward to the weekend with fond memories of the Queen throughout her years on the throne. Listening to their stories of where they were and what they were doing the day of the Queen’s coronation, or the day of her wedding, or even the day of her first child, is truly something we cherish here at Home Instead. The insight into the past that the elder generation provide is invaluable, which is why we strive to show how ‘To us, it’s personal’; because they simply deserve the best care.

For that extra personal touch, we made up some 'Jubilee Goodie Bags', for clients to be able to enjoy a ‘mini afternoon tea’ with their caregiver, containing scones and jam sourced from a local beloved café, Buttercup. Sometimes, a sit down and a chat is all someone needs to make their day just the brighter. In total, we delivered 29 goodie bags across Sheffield and Barnsley, delivered by Home Instead Care Professionals.

Our team of Care Professionals are dedicated to making a difference to their clients’ day, in any way they can. Whilst we are a care company who provide care for our clients, we also care for our Care Professionals. Some may say that care can be an isolating and unrecognised job role, but to that, we say it doesn’t have to be. Showing an appreciation for the amazing work that caregivers do is one of the highlights of the working environment at Home Instead.

After it’s been so long since we’ve been able to provide this support in person, the Jubilee was a great way of getting the whole team back together again. We invited all Care Professionals to come into their office for the whole week leading up to the Jubilee weekend, for a ‘Right Royal Tea Party’; an appropriate theme, we thought. Here, our caregivers could come together again with the office team and enjoy some homemade cakes, celebrating the Queen along with the rest of the nation.

After 2 years of lockdown, this felt extra special.
