Home Instead Senior Care Retford and Gainsborough tackled Christmas hands on with a donation of nearly 100 gifts to the lonely and elderly.

Home Instead Retford and Gainsborough put their Christmas campaign, ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’, into action approaching the Royal British Legion, A1 housing wardens, Local Residential homes and Bassetlaws Integrated discharge team to distribute donated gifts for lonely and elderly people at Christmas time.

With donations dropped off at Morrisons in Retford, Imperial Tea Room Retford and Home Instead’s office they were bound to make a difference in the local community.

Owner, Vicky Waring, was beyond grateful for the number of donations from not only the local community but her staff and the Retford Inner wheel club with a total of 88 gifts piled up in her office ready to give.

Vicky said “I thoroughly enjoyed giving the presents knowing that I was making a difference and putting a smile on people’s faces”

Royal British Legion’s welfare officer Cath, couldn’t believe what a difference the gifts would make to the local veterans.

Vicky would like to thank all that participated and asks for more local businesses to think about getting involved next Christmas as she is striving to at least double her numbers.
