CAREGiver Testimonials

Tori  - CAREGiver

I started working for Home Instead at the beginning of this year, it is by far one of the best decisions I have made, and I hope that I will be with Home instead senior care Retford & Gainsborough for the rest of my working life.

What can I say about Home Instead (HISC)? They are the most amazing company to work for; when I decided home care was something I wanted to do I looked at and interviewed for a few companies. The one always in the back of my head right from the very start was HISC, everything you read on the website & are told on the telephone / email pre interview is 100% true.

The thing that drew me to HISC in the first place was their values and principles. The company goes above & beyond for their CAREGivers & clients alike. The recruitment process was amazing. I was sooo nervous having been out of the ‘work’ environment for 5 years whilst having children and being a stay at home Mum but I was made to feel at ease from the very first telephone call. The lady who interviewed me was amazing. We hit it off and clicked instantly, there was no tension, no judgement and honestly I knew before the interview ended I wanted to work for them and prayed they wanted me too (thank goodness they did)

The training is amazing....I felt fully prepared to go out and start work, you are never on your own as the ladies from the office are always at the end of the phone day or night and no question is ever silly (trust me I’ve asked a few). Don’t worry if you’ve never done care before the training is so thorough you don’t need to have previous experience.

Being a CAREGiver for HISC is the most amazing job in the world and I’m certain I personally get as much out of my job as my clients do from my help. It really doesn’t feel like work and no day or call is ever the same. The relationships you build with you clients are incredible and I care for them like my own family.

I really cannot recommend Home Instead highly enough to anyone both potential CAREGivers, clients or families alike.

Janice  - CAREGiver

During lockdown at the beginning of the year I had a lot of time to decide what I really wanted to do. I have been self-employed cleaning for 9 years, but it just didn’t excite me anymore. My more senior clients during that time were my favourites and always the most rewarding. I then began to look into going into care and researched several companies, care homes etc and eventually I came across Home Instead (HISC). I instantly loved the ethos of the company; the hourly visit was certainly something very refreshing and much needed in a care environment.

I had a couple of friends that work in care and I gave them a call for some advice as soon as I mentioned HISC they were very positive and one of them had worked for them in the past. So here I am several months on and it is the best thing I have ever done.

I chose HISC because they put the client at the centre of everything we do and keep the personal touch at the forefront of their care. You get to build a relationship and quickly form strong bonds with your clients. The ethos of HISC attracted me to them and the hourly visits. I had seen so many other companies doing 15 minute calls and from my own experience it can take 15 minutes to write the log so there is no way you can deliver amazing care in that short space of time. The ongoing paid training, paid mileage and waiting time were also big attractions. Also, the opportunity to do NVQ’s.

When it came to the training I liked the ease and speed of it. I sent my application, HISC responded the day after and I had my interview that same week. I enjoyed the 3 days training and meeting other potential CAREGivers. The thing that really stands out for me is the ongoing support and help from the office team. It really is second to none, nothing is ever too much trouble and knowing they are there for you gives you a massive boost of confidence. We really are a team working together.

If you are looking for a career where you make a difference every day, meet some amazing people, gain qualifications and training, have full support from your management and colleagues then this is the job for you! Don’t be put off by personal care either it really isn’t all that scary and it’s a small proportion of what we actually do! The smiles on their faces and the joy in their eyes is more than enough to put you at ease. If you have ever considered a job in care go for it with HISC!

And just a note about the team if there is anything you are unsure, worried or maybe you feel you need further training on something do not hesitate to ask! They are 100% there for us!
