Many elderly people quietly lose contact with the communities they’ve known for decades. At Home Instead Basingstoke, we seek to restore community engagement and avoid individuals becoming isolated at home. Doreen, who lived in Stratfield Mortimer, had been diagnosed with dementia two years earlier. Her daughter Emma found managing her mother’s needs, alongside her job and the demands of a teenage family, to be overwhelming. She sought our help as Doreen clearly wasn’t eating well. We provided mid-day visits where we would work with Doreen to prepare lunch, rekindling her interest in food while offering social interaction and mental stimulation.
