VE Day Celebrations celebrate clients' memories!

Marking the 75th Anniversary of VE Day, Home Instead asked some of its clients to recall the day they celebrated the end of the war.  They then took the stories and created an impactful visual display for the public to enjoy as a mark of respect and celebration for the people and time.

Clients recalled the lifting of the black-out ban and the switching on of street lights, a time when people everywhere played music and sung together, with many streets having bonfires that burned late into the night.

The Company displayed the accounts, pictures, news articles and memorabelia in the window of their premises on Brook Road, Budleigh Salterton for all the residents and passers by to enjoy.

Co-ordinator Rhea Cousins said: “A particular highlight for me was speaking with one of our clients who was 16 on VE Day.

“She described the party on the village green and the sense of freedom she felt for the first time in her life...

“We hope passers-by find the display as interesting and informative as we do.”
