Hairslides for CAREGivers
Elsie Gives Added Glamour to Local Home Care Company
Staff at Home Instead Exeter and East Devon were delighted by a surprise delivery of handmade hair grips from 8 year old Elsie Adams, daughter of one of the company’s CAREGivers. Elsie made a staggering 100 hair grips, one for each member of the team. They came in a rainbow of colours with varying degrees of sparkle!
Elsie said they took her five days to make due to the multiple stages and waiting for the different components to dry. Elsie started by making them for her school friends because she had been missing them since lockdown, she then moved on to making some for her Mum’s friends, following which she was commissioned by Home Instead Director, Vanessa McGlade to make them for all the staff.
Community Liaison Co-ordinator Rhea Cousins said “We absolutely love what Elsie has made for us, and the effort she has gone to is just amazing- they even came individually wrapped! We’ve all been missing our hair appointments since lockdown, but with our hair grips from Elsie a fringe in the eyes is no longer an issue!”
Elsie gets her creative talents from her Mum, Heather, who makes and sells her own jewellery in addition to her CAREGiver role with Home Instead. You can find Heather’s creations on her Facebook and Instagram pages- Devon Gorse Jewellery, where you will also find many more of Elsie’s creations under her subsidiary- Made with Elsie.
