Introducing... Lee: Home Instead Care Coordinator
The Scheduling department here at Home Instead is one that touches all areas of the business, and almost every team member, on a daily basis.
Lee, our Care Coordinator, works alongside Nadine (Recruitment and Scheduling Manager) and Natalie, fellow Care Coordinator, to make sure that clients receive 100% of the outstanding care that they are expecting, and that Care Professionals are able to efficiently manage their own timetables.
With a background in a variety of fields, Lee joins us having most recently spent some 14 years as a leading team member at a local residential home for adults with learning disabilities, holding a range of positions. With experience in training, leadership and of course scheduling, Lee joined Home Instead this spring, ready to hit the ground running, and says “It’s all looking great, so far. Everyone is really friendly, and I am feeling very positive about my role.”
Lee also has qualifications at NVQ 3 and NVQ5 level, in Health & Social Care, so he is fully equipped to support our Care Professional Team. Beyond his great skillset, upon meeting Lee, it’s clear that he has all of the qualities that we look for in a Home Instead team member, those being kindness, empathy and a sense of fun. As a local youth group leader for the past 30 years, and being involved in Exmouth Carnival club too, Lee really has community interests at heart.
The initial road to care was a surprising one for Lee, as in one of his earlier administrative positions, and quite by surprise, he found himself and his colleagues being made redundant following the transfer of their roles to overseas partners. His then administrative role with an international insurance provider gained him experience with regard to providing advice, training, support and leadership in a senior role. Lee recalls the moment a new role in care was suggested to him, “I was at the barber, and a fellow client was just setting up a care home and was chatting openly about trying to find staff. My particular hairdresser nudged me and said, 'You’d be great at that role – you’ve got experience in training, supporting people, guiding and mentoring' …and she was right!”
Fast forward 15 years and we are very pleased to welcome Lee, and his fantastic skillset to the team at Home Instead. We are excited to see where this part of your care journey leads, Lee!
