Alzheimer's and dementia care

There are around 4,000 people aged 65 and over with dementia in Chester and the surrounding areas. By 2025 this number is expected to rise by 61%.

One in three people over 65 will pass-away with dementia.

More than 60% of all care home residents, aged over 65, have a form of dementia.

If you are struggling to care for a loved one with dementia it is important to remember you are not alone. Almost 2,000 families like yours have trusted Home Instead to provide one-on-one home care for loved ones with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.

Home Instead Chester caregivers complete a training programme designed by national and international renowned dementia and Alzheimer's experts. This training is led by our very own trainer, Helen. All training is refreshed on a regular basis with all caregivers. This means our caregivers are provided with the latest in Alzheimer's education and home care techniques, so you can be assured your loved one is being cared for by a trusted professional. Helen has recently attended the latest Alzheimer's training programme at our National Support Office and this training will be rolled out to our Caregiver's during 2013. We also held  a special event on 20th May in our office, where we carried out some fundraising in support of the Alzheimer's society locally here in Chester. A cheque was then presented to the local Alzheimer's society by owners Chris and Sue Broadbent.

Our caregivers are trained to:

  • Maintain a safe environment
  • Manage changing behaviour
  • Provide nutritious meals
  • Provide mind-stimulating activities
  • Create social interaction
  • Supervise daily activities

Our caregivers can also provide assistance with enhancing and restoring the simple pleasures of life, such as a walk in the park, a trip out in the car or spending time in the garden. These care activities are proven to maximise abilities and independence. The best place for a person with memory loss is in familiar surroundings. The services provided by Home Instead, Chester are a valuable, trusted solution to help your loved one maintain a regular routine, enhancing his or her quality of life. We work closely with the local Chester Alzheimer's Society office in helping to support many people with dementia. They have provided talks at our local Caregiver meetings which helps our Caregivers give more support to dementia sufferers.
