Home Instead Senior Care Bury is proud to be supporting Making Space in promoting dementia awareness in Bury. Making Space launched the dementia friendly business logo for Bury on the 20th of May. Over 20 shops restaurants & businesses have undertaken staff training to make their work places more dementia friendly. The design for the logo was created by students from a local school and voted for by people attending the dementia café which are held monthly throughout Bury and surrounding areas.
Home Instead have been helping to create a flower bed of the logo in the centre of Bury with the help of Bury Police Cadets & Whitefield Horticultural Society, with donations from all the participating businesses. The flower bed was opened by Mike Connolly the council leader and is situated next to the Jewel in the Crown restaurant.
The opening was the start of a week of dementia awareness events throughout Bury. Home Instead Senior Care Bury supported as many as possible, the picture shows Kevin Winch in the Millgate shopping centre promoting the dementia café with the Mayor Councillor Sharon Briggs, Rachel Yates of Making Space, a member of staff from the Fusilier museum and a student who designed the dementia friendly logo. We would also like to recommend the cake from Delicious café at the Fusilier museum.
