Independent Charity shops in and around Bromley

We love a good charity shop bargain! Here are some of our favourite independent charity shops in Bromley, Orpington and Chislehurst that support local charities.

Is there a better feeling than picking up and fabulous pre-loved bargain whilst supporting a good cause? Not only does supporting your local charity shop save you money, but it is also a great way to reduce your carbon footprint and reduce landfill. We are blessed with some fantastic independent charity shops, as well as the larger well-known charity shops in and around Bromley. Here are some of our favourites.

Ada and Albert, The Glades, Bromley

Ada and Albert are an independent non-profit making charity in heart of The Glades shopping centre in Bromley, just off the Kentish Way on the A21.

Ada and Albert fundraise to support vulnerable children under the age of 16, with a vision to give children in the local community a better start and help them reach their full potential.

Ada and Albert has a real boutique feel and does not look like your stereotypical second-hand shop, with ample space and a classy bohemian interior it feels almost high end. The clothing is cleverly displayed in the colour blocks which adds to the boutique ambiance.

Founder, Terry Pullen said “Ada & Albert’s focus on delivering specific benefits to specific situations, the good we generate may change a child’s life forever and also help us keep our own lives in a sensible perspective to others.”

Brix On a Mission, Chatterton Village

For 30 years, On a Mission (fondly known as Brix, the shops original name) has served the community through providing outstanding pre-loved goods at excellent prices on Chatterton Road, which is just around the corner from Bromley College and a only a couple of doors down from the popular stationery shop, Diplock’s.

On a Mission is another independent shop, raising funds to provide fun days out and activities to senior residents living Mission Care homes. Mission Care is a Bromley based charity covering Chislehurst, Southborough Lane, Bickley and Oaklands Road in Bromley. Their friendly team is still supported by the original volunteers, and has a loyal customer base, many of whom have been popping in since they were children.

Last Chance Animal Rescue, Southborough Lane, Bromley

Last Chance Animal Rescue is an Aladdin’s Cave of pre-loved treasure and has been raising funds for the local animal rescue centre for the past ten years. If you have a passion for sustainable living and a love of pets, this is the perfect shop for you!

Last Chance Animal Rescue take in animals, mainly dogs, cats and rabbits to their centres which are constantly filled with pets who can no longer be cared for by the original owners. They also run an adoption programme, so if you are considering adding a furry friend to your family, Last Chance is a great first port of call. For many animals homed there, it truly is their Last Chance.

As with any charity shop, Last Chance are extremely grateful for the support they receive from the local community and ask that you call ahead before brining in your donations.

The Fundraising Shop in Hayes, Kent

The Fundraising shop is a long-established second-hand shop in Station Approach, Hayes, Kent that raises money to support of local charities in the area.

The shop has a quirky feel, and specialises in eye catching and humorous window displays, often using their vintage mannequin, Barry, as the focus of the displays.

The team accept donations of good quality adult & children’s clothing, shoes, accessories, and household items.
