Wrexham community joins together for Memory Walk
Team members from Home Instead Wrexham and Flintshire joined forces with the local community to unite against dementia and raise funds for the Alzheimers Society, by taking part in the Memory Walk at Erddig NT.
The walk, which is organised by the Dementia Friendly Wrexham steering group, aims to raise awareness of dementia and raise much needed funds for the charity. The Alzheimer’s Society provides information and support, improve care, fund research and create long-lasting change for those who are affected by dementia.
Members of the Wrexham community turned up in their droves to support the cause – Ian Lucas, MP for Wrexham led the walk with the Mayor of Wrexham, Rob Walsh coming along to support participants and officially open the event.
Norah Lucas, chair of Dementia Friendly Wrexham, said: “We are so pleased with the turnout for this year’s Memory Walk. It has continued to grow year on year and it’s always fantastic to see family, friends – and even four-legged supporters – join together to create awareness of dementia and help support those whose lives are affected by it.”
