The Dementia Friendly Mold initiative is a local project set up by local people, business, volunteers and community representatives to form a steering group, the aim is for the steering group to achieve foundation status in meeting the criteria set out by the Alzheimer’s Society to make Mold town centre recognised as a dementia friendly town. We are very happy to be part of this steering group.
The aim of dementia friendly communities is to improve the quality of life for people with dementia, in local communities it is evident small changes can make real differences.
We will be working towards a number of criteria that will need to be achieved meet this target and will be asking organisations in Mold to meet 4 commitments that will essentially make the town more dementia friendly.
Commitment 1: Improve staff awareness and understanding
Commitment 2: Review the physical environment of the store/premises
Commitment 3: Support staff who develop dementia or care for a person with dementia
Commitment 4: Support the local community.
