Congratulations to Home Instead Wrexham and Deeside's CAREGiver of the year.
Alex came to work for HISC in September 2015. Whilst she had assisted with looking after her Grandmother, she had no prior formal experience of working in the care industry.
Alex started work almost immediately with a client with a very big personality, who expected things to be done ‘her way’. Alex very quickly learned to work with her client in a trusting and positive way, and was able to encourage her client to allow her to undertake household chores as well as provide companionships services. Alex also worked closely with her client’s Niece and neighbour, and we have had much positive feedback regarding the quality of Alex’s care. On many occasions, Alex has been called to support her client at very short notice; nothing is ever too much trouble, and she actively seeks solutions to any problems that arise.
Alex also works with a lady who has been diagnosed with dementia. It was a very difficult decision for her new client and her husband to accept help from ‘outsiders’ as they have always been very independent. Though it has been a slow process for this couple to accept help, Alex’s caring nature, along with her excellent organisational skills and bubbly personality, has been at the forefront of what we have achieved to date. Her clients have become extremely fond of her, and she is the benchmark to which they expect from all our CAREGivers.
In addition to the regular work with her two main clients, Alex is always willing to step in and work with other clients. Her easy going, pleasant demeanour and sense of humour soon put people at ease, and make them feel that they are in good hands.
In addition to the high standards of care she provides to her clients, Alex is extremely organised with excellent problem-solving and communication skills, not just with the office, but with the other CAREGivers with whom she works. She also assists with administrative duties in the office as and when needed.
