I'm Myfanwy and I've been with Home Instead Senior Care Wrexham and Flintshire East since January 2017 as the Registered Care Manager.

I am passionate about being able to provide the best home care in North East Wales.

I was  born and brought up in Llangollen and started my career with Wrexham Council Social Care Team before progressing to become a Registered Manager.  I have over 10 years of expertise in Home Care in the Wrexham Area.

When I'm not in work I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and am also a regular gym-goer!

Sam Murray-James Head of CAREGiver experience

Sam M - J Head of CAREGiver Experience

Hello there! I'm Sam. Although I have joined the office team as Head of CAREGiver experience I have been behind the scenes developing Home Instead Wrexham and Flintshire for the past five years by supporting my husband, Matthew.

My background is in Education where I have taught a number of subjects ranging from Maths, Science and Equine studies to 16-18 year old students for the past ten years. I bring with me my PGCE, Assessing and Quality Assurance qualifications.  I plan to take my teaching experience and use it to develop the training of new and existing CAREGivers and support them to achieve a qualification in Health and Social care, showing that this a career worth investing in. I will also be supporting the recruitment of new CAREGivers by helping the team to continue to select the best people to work with our clients.

When I am not at work I enjoy spending time with my horses and taking Burdock for long walks.

Outside of work I enjoy Welsh Morris Dancing and often take part in competitions across North Wales.

Sarah D - Care Coordinator Home Instead Wrexham and Flintshire East

Sarah D - Care Coordinator

Hi, I'm Sarah and I'm the Care Coordinator at Home Instead.

After working in Retail Management for many years I decided that a career change was needed - that's when I applied to be a CAREGiver with Home Instead.  I enjoyed this very much as I loved spending time with the clients and helping them to retain their independence at home.  Recently the opportunity arose for me to join the office team as Care Coordinator, which is great as it still allows me to get out and visit clients and their families but also allows me to support other CAREGivers.

I have achieved my QCF Level 2 and I am now working towards Level 3.  I have also completed the Dementia City and Guilds award and am also working towards my Key Trainer Manual Handling award.

When I'm not at Home Instead I enjoy listening to music, watching TV and going for walks with my dog.    I also enjoy socialising with other members of the team!

Heather C - Community Engagement and Marketing Home Instead Wrexham and Flintshire East

Heather C - Community Engagement Coordinator

Hi, I'm Heather and I'm Home Instead's Community Engagement Coordinator.

I'll be coordinating local marketing/social media and working around the area to help spread the word about everything that Home Instead Wrexham and Flintshire East do and stand for!
I am also a Dementia Champion for the Alzheimer's Society so am qualified to deliver Dementia Friends Information Sessions to our new employees as well as the wider community.

My background is in corporate Marketing and Events but I decided I wanted to do something more to "make a difference".  This led to me taking over a funded community project which provided social events for the over 60s.  Through this, I discovered Home Instead and work they do to promote client independence so I am really pleased to now be a part of the team here in North Wales.

Away from Home Instead, I enjoy spending time with my young family, being outdoors and travelling.   I am also a Blue Stripe Belt in Taekwondo and am currently working towards my next grading.

Woof!  I'm Burdock and I joined the team when I was just 6 months old.  I love spending time in the office, meeting and greeting all of our visitors.  Two of my favourite things are walkies and treats!

I also like to visit the Memory Lane Cafe which Home Instead Wrexham and Flintshire support at St Giles Church, Wrexham.

When I'm a bit older I'm looking forward to undergoing my Pets as Therapy test and I will then be able meet some of our elderly clients who no longer can have pets of their own.  Woof! Woof!

Matthew Murray-James - Owner Home Instead Wrexham and Flintshire East

Matthew Murray-James - Owner

Hello I’m Matthew, and together with my wife Sam, we run Home Instead Wrexham and Flintshire East.

My story

About 5 years ago my elderly grandmother was starting to show signs of dementia and I had to find her some help in the home. I found it very difficult to get the care she needed and at the time I didn’t know about Home Instead. I also lived over 100 miles from her and couldn’t visit every week. Not being able to care for my grandmother myself was extremely painful for me and my partner. I needed to know that she was in safe hands but sadly she did not always receive the care she deserved, until I discovered Home Instead.

Why I wanted to join Home Instead

My background is in hospitality and education where I have been a lecturer and manager of a large commercial Equine Centre. I knew I wanted to do something to make a difference but until I found Home Instead I didn’t know how. I knew that Home instead was right for me as I shared the values and beliefs that they did about ensuring that each person is cared for as if they were a relative themselves.

My aim is to provide a quality service to this community where they can have the confidence that their loved ones are being cared for and treated with respect and dignity. I endeavour to be the best home care provider in the area.

Please feel free to contact me at any time to discuss yours and your families’ individual needs.
