Registered Care Manager - Myfanwy W
I'm Myfanwy W and I've been with Home Instead Senior Care Wrexham and Flintshire East in January 2017 as the Registered Care Manager.
I was born and brought up in Llangollen and am passionate about being able to provide the best home care in North East Wales.
I started my career with Wrexham Council Social Care Team before progressing to become a Registered Manager and have over 10 years of expertise in Home Care in the Wrexham Area.
When I'm not in work I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and am also a regular gym-goer!
Melanie A - Recruitment Coordinator
Hi, I'm Melanie A and I'm the Recruitment and Training Co-ordinator for Home Instead Wrexham and Flintshire East. I joined the team in September 2018 and have worked in the home care sector for 15 years.
My primary aim in my role is to recruit high quality CAREGivers that will provide care and compassion and really make a difference to our elderly clients.
Outside of work I enjoy Welsh Morris Dancing and often take part in competitions across North Wales.
Sarah D - Care Coordinator
Hi, I'm Sarah and I'm one of the Care Coordinators at Home Instead.
After working in Retail Management for many years I decided that a career change was needed - that's when I applied to be a CAREGiver with Home Instead. I enjoyed this very much as I loved spending time with the clients and helping them to retain their independence at home. Recently the opportunity arose for me to join the office team as Care Coordinator, which is great as it still allows me to get out and visit clients and their families but also allows me to support other CAREGivers.
I have achieved my QCF Level 2 and I am now working towards Level 3. I have also completed the Dementia City and Guilds award and am also working towards my Key Trainer Manual Handling award.
When I'm not at Home Instead I enjoy listening to music, watching TV and going for walks with my dog. I also enjoy socialising with other members of the team!
Niki B - Care Coordinator
Hi, my names Niki and I'm a Care Coordinator for the Wrexham and Flintshire team at Home Instead. I'm from Wrexham and have lived here all my life. I'm actually a hairdresser by trade but after doing the job for 15 years I felt like a change and decided to follow my mum's footsteps into the care industry.
I originally started as a carer, moving up the ladder to become a field care supervisor before becoming a coordinator and now have over 12 years experience in the industry. I've completed by NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care and I'm keen to develop my skills further. I'm also a key trainer in Moving and Handling and I've recently completed my Dementia City and Guilds award.
I have owned horses in the past but have just retired my most recent horse - when I'm not in the office I like to relax with my family and friends.
Heather C - Community Engagement Coordinator
Hi, I'm Heather and I'm the most recent member of staff to join the office team.
I'll be coordinating local marketing/social media and working around the area to help spread the word about everything that Home Instead Wrexham and Flintshire East are doing within the community!
My background is in Marketing and Events, but last year I decided that I wanted to do something more to make a difference to people in the local community. This led to me taking over a funded project which provided social events for the over 60s, promoting health and wellbeing as well as reducing loneliness and isolation. Working with this age group, I discovered Home Instead and the great work that they do, so I am really pleased to now be a part of the team.
Away from Home Instead, I enjoy spending time with my young family, being outdoors and travelling. I am also a Yellow Belt in Taekwondo and am currently working towards my next grading.
Burdock Bear - Office Empathy Dog
Woof! I'm Burdock and I joined the team when I was just 6 months old. I love spending time in the office, meeting and greeting all of our visitors. Two of my favourite things are walkies and treats!
I also like to visit the Memory Lane Cafe which Home Instead Wrexham and Flintshire support at St Giles Church, Wrexham.
When I'm a bit older I'm looking forward to undergoing my Pets as Therapy test and I will then be able meet some of our elderly clients who no longer can have pets of their own. Woof! Woof!
Matthew Murray-James - Owner
Hello I’m Matthew from Home Instead Wrexham and Flintshire East. My background is in hospitality and education where I have been a lecturer and manager of a large commercial Equine Centre. I live with my partner Samantha who works as a college lecturer for students with learning disabilities.
About 5 years ago my elderly grandmother was starting to show signs of dementia and I had to find her some help in the home. I found it very difficult to get the care she needed and at the time I didn’t know about Home Instead. I also lived over 100 miles from her and couldn’t visit every week. Not being able to care for my grandmother myself was extremely painful for me and my partner. I needed to know that she was in safe hands but sadly she did not always receive the care she deserved, until I discovered Home Instead.
Why I wanted to join Home Instead
I knew I wanted to do something to make a difference but until I found Home Instead I didn’t know how. I knew that Home instead was right for me as I shared the values and beliefs that they did about ensuring that each person is cared for as if they were a relative themselves.
My aim is to provide a quality service to this community where they can have the confidence that their loved ones are being cared for and treated with respect and dignity. I endeavour to be the best home care provider in the area.
Please feel free to contact me at any time to discuss yours and your families’ individual needs.
