We were very delighted to have been invited to deliver our first Dementia Friends Information Session at the Hatfield Fire Station today.
The session was attended by 4 members of the team. The team provide invalauble support to those members of our community who are most at risk of accidents involving fire. The Q&A session was lively and promoted food for thought for all.
We look forward to meeting more of the team in the future!
What is a Dementia Friend?
A Dementia Friend learns a little more about what it’s like to live with Dementia and then turns that understanding into action – anyone of any age can be a Dementia Friend.
From helping someone to find the right bus to spreading the word about dementia on social media, every action counts.
Dementia Friends want to recruit a million Dementia Friends, the scheme aims to educate people about the condition.
* Research has revealed that dementia costs the UK economy £23billion a year.
* Time off to care for loved ones with dementia costs businesses £1.6billion a year.
* More than 100,000 people will have to quit their job or change hours to look after family this year.
* Around 800,000 people are living with the condition in Britain.
