Welwyn's Community Café that is Dementia Friendly

In the lovely village of Welwyn, is our friendly community café that runs once a fortnight. The café is a welcoming place full of smiles, laughs, and positivity.

About our Community Café

The Community Café in Digswell is no more than a 10-minute drive for those living in the areas of Welwyn Garden City, Welwyn Village, Hatfield, Tewin, Oaklands, Welham Green, and Essendon. It’s a cheerful place where people with dementia, along with their loved ones and carers can hang out and enjoy activities and socialise with fellow community members. It’s a place that welcomes everyone with open arms and understanding hearts.

The cafe is designed to spark joy and memories. Memory aids and nifty gadgets are encouraged that help jog those wonderful moments from the past. Whether it’s a catchy tune or a familiar picture, these little things can make a big difference.

And let’s not forget the activities! From arts and crafts to toe-tapping music sessions, there’s never a dull moment in a dementia-friendly community cafe. You can share stories, laugh, and connect with others who understand what you’re going through. Since we opened in 2017, it’s been a place where friendships blossomed and proud to support visitors who have continuously visited from the day we opened.
