Home Instead - A Wet Day at The Races!!

All Cleaned & Ready
All Cleaned & Ready
Following a Course Inspection by the Jockey Club on 3rd May 2012, the Northaw Point to Point went ahead as planned on BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY, 7th MAY 2012!!

We arrived at the event in good spirits a little drizzle wouldn’t stop us – the little blue fiat had been especially cleaned for the event and we had blown up lots of balloons to pop inside the car for the competition.

However, the rain just kept coming and the race punters were too busy racing and keeping themselves dry – the horses looked very happy – they certainly didn’t seem to mind. Anyway we decided to decamp early – this however, meant that I had to burst all the balloons in order to actually drive my car out of the field. With all the rain the field had become extremely slippy but my little fiat handled the situation with great gusto!

Barbara, my Care Manager, had not only spent the day getting cold and wet, but had been parked in the main spectator’s car park. Unfortunately she couldn’t even get her car out of the car park, so another round of tea later and some time spent sitting in her car trying to get warm and dry she eventually was rescued by a handsome man with a TRACTOR, yes Barbara was pulled out of the car park using a TRACTOR, this seemed to be the best mode of transport on the day!

Unfortunately due to the bad weather the prize was not won so we will be raffling the meal for two kindly supplied by BROOKMANS www.brookmanspub.co.uk at a the Oakland’s College Job Fair on May 11th again all proceeds will go the Parkinson’s UK.
