Supporting Local Volunteers at Linkage Southwark

Working alongside his, ”Home Instead Charity” arm, local owner, Tony O’Flaherty succeeded in securing a £1,500 grant to help his local volunteer group, Linkage Southwark.

Tony said, it’s a pleasure to be able to continue supporting Link Age Southwark as we share many of the same values and objectives, namely to reduce loneliness and isolation, improve older people's quality of life, and enable older people to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible.”

Home Instead’s mission is to change the face of ageing and alongside our charity, we exist to bring happiness and joy into the lives of our ageing population through improving and maintaining mental well-being and addressing loneliness and isolation.

Link Age Southwark trains its volunteers to deliver services to older people in the local community and provides friendly volunteer support to over 700 older people in Southwark who are feeling lonely or isolated. A regular visit for a friendly chat over a cup of tea or a walk outside can make a huge difference and Linkage arranges befriending visits at times suitable for both the older person and the volunteer.
