The eagerly awaited Jubilee Health Centre was officially opened recently by quadruple paralympic gold medallist, David Weir. The centre, which is the first of four planned for the London Borough of Sutton, is part of the "healthcare closer to home" strategy that will move a lot of clinics and test departments away from the main hospital St Helier.

As a member of the consultative group that put forward a series of views on the potential "patient experience" of the new centre in the last few months of its construction, local Home Instead Senior Care owner, Tony Ward, was invited to the grand opening. Approximately 50 local VIPs had the chance to mingle and meet local resident David Weir before the ceremony and afterwards were treated to a tour of the new centre,

There was a Healthcare exhibition outside in the Library Gardens where many local charity organisations presented their services to the visiting members of the public. After viewing the exhibition the opening party were treated to an excellent lunch in the Wallington Library.
