Being a CAREGiver
We are always looking for fantastic people to join our team of CAREGiver's. This is due to the increasing demand for our services. The demand for our service is testament to the great work carried out by our CAREGiver's which has earned Home Instead Senior Care a great reputation for delivering high quality companionship and care services throughout the country.
This special role is ideal for any lady or gentleman (regardless of your age) that wants to build a lasting relationship with an older or less able person and make a real difference. We assist with daily activities to enable service users to stay in their own homes. They may require help with tasks around the home or with carrying their groceries back from the supermarket. Maybe they have lost the confidence to go out and about in their local community or have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. It is the flexibility and unique approach of Home Instead that is a great comfort to an older person and their families. Our CAREGiver's are matched to the personality and background of our clients, so that interests can be shared and there are strong foundations on which to build an extraordinary relationship.
Empathy, compassion and reliability are much more important than formal experience in a care position. Many of our most successful CAREGiver's have no prior experience. They come from a wide variety of backgrounds and all have their own story to tell. To them working for Home Instead Senior Care is so much more than "just another job" to them it is about giving something back and having their own life enriched by performing this role.
Our training is designed to give our CAREGiver's the skills and knowledge to go out and care for their clients safely and with confidence. We have recently introduced our new Alzheimer's and Dementia training programme, which is accredited by City and Guilds. This is a fantastic training programme and we are immensely pleased that we are able to offer this formal qualification to our CAREGiver's alongside our existing training programme.
The role of the CAREGiver with Home Instead is quite different to the role of a home care assistant with a traditional home care agency. We assign our CAREGiver's to regular clients and we aim to assign them to clients in their local area. We do not and will never carry out 15 minute calls, all of our visits are a minimum one hour call. We never deduct travelling time from the visit as we want our CAREGiver's and client's to spend quality time together rather than rushing to get through a list of tasks. This is the key to maintaining positive relationships, we want our CAREGiver's to feel happy and content in their roles and help us to achieve our vision which is to "change the face of ageing"

I feel that I should write to you to thank you for the way Home Instead has helped me. One of the reasons why I changed care to Home Instead was that I wanted to feel that I was safe if I needed more help in the future. I was not expecting to need that help so soon. Thanks to yourself, Liz and above all Julie it has meant I was saved from a hospital admission, something that I really wanted to avoid. Instead I feel well looked after in my own home which I am sure is the reason why I am feeling so much better. Hopefully I will soon be able to enjoy my busy social life again with the help that Home Instead is able to give me.Mrs J Burton
