Oldham Care Company Spreads Festive Cheer with Community Gifts

Home Instead Senior Care, an Oldham based Care Company that supports older people in their own homes, has gone out of its way this year to collect Christmas presents for local residents who have been identified as isolated or lonely.

Home Instead have been collecting presents since November with the help of Tesco Extra (Huddersfield Rd, Oldham) and local groups and residents. Once collected, each gift was lovingly wrapped by Santa’s little helper (thank you Debra) and then distributed through a network of local support services that had identified people in need.

Mick Sheehan, Home Instead’s MD said “The generosity of people willing to help others is amazing. Most of the presents were donated by shoppers at Tesco during one day of collection, so a big thank you to the shoppers and to Tesco for their support”. Mick added “most of our clients at Home Instead have family and friends around at this time of year so this is really about reaching out to the wider community and supporting those who aren’t as fortunate”.

The partnership organisations that helped Home Instead to distribute presents included; Housing & Care 21, Villages Housing, Cake & Teapot Cafe, Dovetales Christian Centre, Alt Community Hub, Keyring Charity. Some presents were also given directly to individual members of the public who’s names had been put forward.

All the team at Home Instead would like to say a big thank you to all involved in this year’s Santa to a Senior and would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy 2018!
