Home Instead, Oldham & Saddleworth, are to stage their 4th Family Dementia Workshop of 2014 next week in line with their ongoing action plan to help Oldham become a 'Dementia Friendly Community'.

When asked about the workshops Mick Sheehan, Managing Director, said 'when we signed up to the newly formed Oldham Dementia Action Alliance we had to commit to an action plan of how we were going to help the local community support people with Dementia. As such we detailed 3 individual approaches:

1. How we were going to increase the training given to our Caregivers.

2. How we were going to continue raising awareness and education in the local community.

3. How we embrace joint working with partner organisations to achieve a shared goal.

Mick added 'over the last 2 years our workshops have been attended by over 350 people and the feedback has been excellent. We have 20 people booked on the workshop next week and as long as people continue to see the value in what we offer, we'll keep on going'.

The workshop is on Thursday 24th July 2014 at Millercare's showroom, Huddersfield Rd, Oldham, please see attached poster for more details.

Just as a reminder; the Family Dementia Workshop is free and is open to anyone who supports a loved one with any form of Dementia. It is also open to health and social care professionals or volunteers from any organisation. Space permitting we also welcome professionals working with the general public who may benefit from increased awareness of Dementia or members of the public at large who have a general interest in helping others.
