Home Instead - Collecting presents for Seniors at Christmas

Each year Home Instead arrange our “Be a Santa to Senior” gift giving scheme to enable people from our local communities to come together and help spread Christmas cheer amongst older people.

It’s an opportunity to touch the lives of the Seniors amongst us who generally don’t have family around during the festive period and aren’t likely to receive any visits or gifts. Ultimately, the objective is to positively impact on the lives of our Seniors and by reaching out to older people who might not receive a gift at Christmas time, we hope we can make a small difference and give back to our local communities.

Be a Santa to a Senior was launched in the UK in 2012, it started small with only a few gifts being distributed to residents at a local nursing home. Over the years, Home Instead has helped provide over a million gifts to thousands of older people around the world.

How Be a Santa to a Senior works

Home Instead for Conwy and Denbighshire have partnered with local community organisations in North Wales to identify older people who might not receive gifts this Christmas time.

Our team based from the office at 26 Market Street, Abergele will be working with the Bayview Shopping Centre in Colwyn Bay to help facilitate the purchase of gifts by placing a small Christmas tree in the centre, outside Morrisons on Wednesday 2nd, Monday 7th and Tuesday 8th of December.

Customers or visitors to the centre are invited to take a tag from the tree, they will then purchase the named gift before placing it under the tree or bringing it to the office.

The team will then arrange for the gifts to be collected, wrapped and delivered in time for Christmas. Any volunteers who wish to assist with this service will be warmly received!

Gifts DO NOT have to be anything grand or expensive, all we ask is that you purchase an extra stocking filler that you might give to your loved one, smellies, small bottle of wine, socks, gloves, scarf, book etc.

If you'd like to get involved by donating presents, hosting a wrapping party or anything else in between, please get in touch with us for further information on 01745 772150.
