Caring Vyom wins national award

Local Hayes man, Vyom Padania, has picked up a national award for his services in the care sector winning the prestigious title ‘Caregiver of the Year’ from his employers, Home Instead, a national organisation which provides at-home care to the elderly.

Home Instead employs 2,500 caregivers across 68 offices the UK and all offices were invited to nominate a caregiver for the prestigious award. The company’s national head office drew up a shortlist of 11 finalists who were interviewed before the judging panel made their final selection.

Vyom was put forward for the award by Tony Hussain who owns and runs the Ealing office of Home Instead.

In nominating Vyom, Tony said: “Vyom is one of those people who makes a massive difference to each and every one of his clients. He goes about his work in a calm manner, is totally dedicated to his work and is kind and caring.

“Vyom has worked with us for 10 months and in that time has made a huge impact. His very first client was a gentleman suffering a neurological disorder which causes amnesia. Symptoms can be managed with medication but proper nutrition and hydration are also important. Vyom re-planned this new client’s care and improved his diet to give him every chance of a better quality of life.

“Vyom has also encouraged the gentleman to play chess again after 15 years and has become a real friend and companion to him – even visiting him recently when he was having some treatment in hospital.”

Tony continued: “Vyom has a natural ability to care which is wonderful to see. He certainly is a worthy winner and we are so proud that he works for us here in Ealing.”

Last month Vyom accompanied Tony to Home Instead’s national conference and awards in Warrington, south of Manchester. The awards ceremony was a glittering event, attended by 250 employees of the company and Vyom’s award was the highlight of the event.

Commenting on his award, Vyom said: “I was honoured to be selected as the winner of this award as there are so many amazing caregivers who work for Home Instead.

“When Tony and I walked in to the awards ceremony I was astounded by the size of the event and when I was chosen as the winner I had to go up on stage to collect the award to huge applause, I’ve never seen anything like it.

“Everyone was very kind to me and they made a huge fuss but I like to think of the award being for the whole Ealing team and for that I thank Tony and my work colleagues.”
