What are you like! Caring? Part time care job sounds right for you?

Its not just you! If you are like me - and always stop to have a chat with an older person who seems to be out and about shopping on their own, have ever cared for a loved one before or if you enjoy interacting with older individuals and wonder about a chance to look after people properly you may  fancy a chance to make a difference in the lives of older people, CAREGiving with Home Instead could be just the right career for you.

To start the New Year with a Great Feeling we’re looking for people to join our team with a desire to build great relationships with our clients. Our new campaign, #youcancare, we’re encouraging people to consider working in care who may not have before.

And whilst you are thinking about it, here is a list of the qualities that we believe make a great CAREGiver:

Patience.  Oh yes.  Those lovely people at Home Instead who provide care to others need to be patient. And smiley! Sometimes, things may not go as quickly as planned, and there may be a more than a little hesitation at times on the part of the person receiving care. Its fine. It's important to Keep Calm! and patient. No matter how stressful the task at hand patience is really important .

Kindness and empathy. A little kindness goes such a long way. It may take courage and strength and kindness is vital in this role.

Attentiveness. Spot the difference. When you arrive you get time to see what needs to be done, and you will soon get a feel for what has changed with your client. Things can change quickly. Listening, noticing changes in routine or behaviour and taking swift action are all crucial to providing the outstanding care we are known for.

Dependability. When we look after a person it is usually because they have lost some degree of independence and they have to be able to depend on the person or people providing care to them. A truly dependable CAREGiver is reliable, arrives on-time and is consistent in their approach to providing provides the highest level of care, every time they visit

Integrity. It helps to have a strong moral compass - you are confident that you can do the right thing, not always the easy thing. Being trustworthy, honest, and compassionate are essential qualities as a CAREGiver.

Here at Home Instead, one of the most important aspects of being a CAREGiver is offering companionship.  We carefully match our CAREGivers to clients knowing that  a strong relationship can grow based upon those early conversations about hobbies and pastimes. You need to be happy to have a cup of tea and a chat!!l Maybe a biscuit too!
