Our team understands the local area intimately, so we can suggest outings that match each client’s interests and abilities, whether that’s a quiet visit to St Mary’s Church or watching the famous Tar Barrels (from a safe distance) for those who’ve enjoyed this tradition their whole lives.
Our Ottery St Mary Team is With You Through Every Step
We are led by Mark and Vanessa McGlade, who brought Home Instead to East Devon in 2011 after experiencing disappointing care for their own grandmother. Our team includes Sophie, a Devon-based medical doctor, and Laura, our General Manager since 2013, whose extensive health and social care background ensures exceptional service standards. Our office houses 20 dedicated staff who manage everything from carefully matching Care Professionals with clients to providing comprehensive training. We personally visit each client to understand their unique needs and preferences, creating a care plan that specifically addresses how dementia affects their daily life and what brings them joy and comfort.
Our commitment to the Ottery St Mary community extends beyond individual care, as we actively partner with local organisations to improve dementia awareness. We’ve conducted six free dementia workshops for families and friends already this year, providing practical advice and emotional support to those on this challenging journey. Our team regularly delivers community dementia talks, helping vital services become better at treating our clients. We’ve supported Ottery businesses with dementia awareness training, contributing to the town’s growing reputation as a dementia-friendly community where people can shop, socialise and access services with dignity and understanding.
