Ipswich company Home Instead Senior Care has been celebrating a landmark achievement this week as they welcomed their 200th client on-board. The at-home care company marked this achievement recently with a visit to their first ever client, local lady and Ipswich award-winner Mrs Abbott.

Mrs Abbott has always been greatly involved in the local community, volunteering for organisations including WRVS, Senior Citizens Club and St Francis Church before being awarded the prestigious Ipswich medal by the Mayor of Ipswich in 1995 for services to the community.

Mrs Abbott’s daughter Sandra comments, “As mum got older and started to need a little helping hand, I was so thrilled when I learnt about Home Instead. The team has been able to visit mum when I am work and take her out and about in the local community again. That has been so important for her over the last two years.”

Home Instead owner Chris Lye comments, “Mrs Abbott has always worked so hard for others in the community so it has been particularly rewarding to be able to return some of that compassion and support. We are really grateful to her and her family for believing in our company in the early years, and thrilled that our ethos for providing high-quality care has allowed us to help so many more local people over the last couple of years.”

Mrs Abbott too was happy to celebrate the company’s latest achievement and invited Home Instead care manager Teri Wines and caregiver Angela Shaw to pop by to celebrate the occasion. She comments, “My caregivers are so lovely. I look forward to their visits so much. I always try to let my friends know that a service like this exists as many families just don’t know what’s available.”

Home Instead services include everything from escorting clients on visits or appointments to simple conversation and good company; home help covering all aspects of day-to-day housework, shopping, meal preparation and household duties; and personal care such as assistance with bathing, dressing, eating and medication prompts.
