Mayor of Greenwich at Home Instead Dementia Session

17th November 2019, our Director Fatta Thapa, delivered a Dementia Awareness session to the local community at Charlton Athletics FC home, The Valley. Councillor Mick Hayes the Mayor of Greenwich was among the participants. The Mayor stated “I have attended several Dementia events in past, but never attended such an informative and event, the delivery was very professional and interactive.

As per the World Alzheimer’s report 2015, someone in the world develops dementia every 3 seconds and estimated 46.8 million people worldwide with dementia in 2015, believed to be closer to 50 million in 2017.

The research also shows that there are currently over 850,000 people in the UK with dementia, forecast to be over 2 million by 2051 and over 40,000 people with young-onset dementia (under 65years old); 1 in 6 people over the age of 80 have a type of dementia.

Fatta is a Train the Trainer for Home Instead Dementia Programme and Dementia Friends Champion for Alzheimer’s Society.
