Karen and Kerry Win Home Instead Fitness Challenge

11 August 2020, Home Instead – Greenwich & Bexley announced the winners of Home Instead Fitness Challenge 2020 – CAREGier, Karen Roots and Care Manger, Kerry McDonalds are the joint Winners and the 2nd Place goes to CAREGiver Shimmy Pun.  Shimmy is one of the longest serving CAREGivers, having worked with the company for more than four years.

During the COVID-19 Pandemic, Key Workers such as NHS worker, delivery drivers, emergency services and CAREGiver from Social Care sector played vital roles and ensured the essential services are provided. As a part of Key Players and CAREGivers wellbeing initiatives at Home Instead - Greenwich & Bexley, a Fitness Challenge was launched on 15th June 2020 that encouraged and promoted physical and mental wellbeing and good Nutrition. The Fitness Challenge Programme included:
· Spin
· Zumba
· CrossFit
· Boxercise
· Barre Class
· Yoga
· Group Walks
· Healthy Cooking sessions

Director, Sonia Thapa stated that “The Fitness Challenge was not only aimed to maintain healthier weight, but had taken a holistic approach to enhance our Key Players and CAREGivers’ both, physical and mental wellbeing and I am pleased to see the improvement among the participants”

Public Health England (PHE) finds that “Excess weight can increase risk of serious illness and death from COVID-19 and supporting people to move towards and maintain a healthier weight may reduce the serious effects of COVID-19 on the population.”


Managing Director, Fatta Thapa said “We are an “Outstanding” Care Provider and our staff’s wellbeing is my top priority,  Sir Richard Branson once said “if you look after your employee, they will look after your clients” and I wholeheartedly believe in this.”
