Home Instead network has over 170 offices in the UK and we visit neighbouring offices in order to share experience and exchange good practice so that our service can be enhanced and ultimately, the elderly people whom we provide care for continue receiving the highest level of care.
This month, we had visitors from Home Instead Reigate office. The owners Greg and Helen along with their Recruiter and Trainer, Carol took their time to visit us. It is our normal practice to give a little tour of local area to our visitors, so we took them to Greenwich Park, The Royal Observatory, which we believe they enjoyed very much.
During their visit we had an opportunity to discuss how we can improve our services. Home Instead is already doing excellent job - we are the only care company to provide person-centred care in Greenwich & Bexley area. There are few care agencies in the area but, they are very much focused on task-in-time led approach, which we believe is not working.
Greg said how important it is to providing continuity of care; same CAREGiver providing care means not only they will be able to build relationship with the client but also they will be the first person to notice changes in care needs or changes in client’s health condition. Greg’s comments are very much echoes with Home Instead Greenwich & Bexley ethos and practice as we believe that it is paramount that we provide continuity of care and we never compromise on this.
Carol and our Care Manager, Natalie exchanged good practices in regards to training CAREGivers and how we can smoothly roll-out new care certificate that has recently been introduced under new Health & Social Care Act. They both emphasised, how important it is to train CAREGivers in Home Instead’s way so that the CAREGivers embrace Home Instead’s culture and ethos. Home Instead ensures that our CAREGiver go through rigorous trainings so that they are fully equipped with all the skills and knowledge they required to deliver highest level of care. They also exchanged ideas on how to recruit best CAREGiver who are compassionate, have empathy and Caring nature.
The visitors enjoyed Italian food with freshly brewed beer in their very own in-house brewery at The Zero Degree in Blackheath.
