Be A Santa To A Senior - Annual Gift Giving Success

17th December 2019, Home Instead - Greenwich & Bexley is delighted with the success of their Christmas gift giving scheme, having distributed 110 gifts and hampers to the elderly in the local community. The company, which provides care to clients in their own homes, joined forces with Leigh Academy in Blackheath to ensure that lonely and isolated seniors would receive a gift this Christmas.

Children participated in the campaign by making handmade cards with sweet messages for seniors, and then delivered the gifts and hampers to several charities and organisations including Woolwich Community Centre, Old Cottage Charlton, and Skills & Care Greenwich which will be hosting Christmas meals on Christmas Day.

Also involved in the scheme was Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s, and Tesco.

Speaking of the campaign, Sonia Thapa, owner of Home Instead Greenwich said, “This year’s Be a Santa to a Senior was an incredible success. Not only did we deliver lots of wonderful gifts and hampers to people in the local community, but we also had a chance to work alongside wonderful charities and organisations who share the same goal of working together to help people. It is our small way of making sure we give a little back to the older generation and ensure they start the festive season with a good party and catching up with friends.”

Sonia continued, “We were particularly impressed to see how proud the school children were to have the opportunity to give something back. We would also like to thank our caregivers and staff for donating gifts and their time for this campaign.”
