Our Amazing CAREGivers

Our Amazing CAREGivers

With Home Instead, Care means quality care. It means providing support that is completely personalised to the individual and is based on a close bond formed from personality similarities, shared experiences or interests. Therefore, it is extremely important that we choose our CAREGiver very carefully. Our CAREGiver Experience Manager Toni ensures that CAREGivers are carefully selected, highest standard of training is given and continuous support is provided.

Our CAREGivers are well trained individuals who have a genuine passion for caring; they undergo extensive back ground checks and only work with one or two Clients so they can visit at the time the Client requires. We are extremely proud of our CAREGivers many of whom go above and beyond the call of duty to take care of our clients. They are dedicated, hard-working and have a genuine desire to work in an environment where they help other and make a make a difference.

Kieran N - Business Operations Manager

Hi! I’m Kieran Winter-Nolan, Business Operations Mannager for HI Greenwich & Bexley. I’ve worked within the healthcare sector now for several years, originally starting my Journey in Optics including Refractive Eye Surgery and NHS/Private Dentistry before joining Home Instead as BOM. Growing up in a family with multiple members being part of either the NHS or the wider healthcare sector, I have always felt an attachment to helping and caring for others, after spending time in primary care settings and surgery centres, I had come to realise that caring for the older generations was something I have a true passion for. I discovered Home Instead when I was researching into the next step in my career and wanted to move somewhere I could truly make an impact to peoples lives. I have been blown away by the ethos and approach to Home Care from the Directors all the way to our every day heroes, the CAREGivers. Home Instead are truly a business that cares more! I am nothing but proud to represent the brand.

Fatta & Sonia Thapa - Owners

Fatta and Sonia Thapa - Owner/Director

Hi! We are Fatta and Sonia Thapa, owners of Home Instead Senior Care - Greenwich & Bexley. We have been living in the area for the last 21 years. Most recently, we had an opportunity to work with elderly widows of Gurkha soldiers, most of them in their late 80’s; some of them had Dementia and Parkinson. Loneliness is their biggest barrier. We always wished that they had someone to talk to. Then, we came across Home Instead Senior Care, who not only deliver personal care of highest standard, but also ensured that clients’ other social needs are also met through its companionship services. We were very impressed by the ethos and culture of the organisation. So, we joined this amazing organisation and committed ourselves to change the face of care provision across Greenwich & Bexley.

We are very proud to be a part of Britain’s No 1 Home Care provider.

We have three adorable kids and they mean world to both of us. Outside our work life, we both love to spend time with our kids and also spare a few hours every weeks for elderly Gurkha widows to teach them English and signpost them to local services through our registered charity Skills & Care Greenwich.

Kerry McDonald - Registered Manager

Kerry M - Registered Care Manager

Hi! I’m Kerry and I am the Registered Care Manager at Home Instead Senior Care- Greenwich and Bexley.

I have worked in the care industry for the past six years and have worked my way up from care worker, to team leader, to coordinator to Registered Manager and have experience in both residential and domiciliary care. Having experience in each of these roles allows me to relate to and share my experiences with my team which I believe is extremely beneficial.

When looking into different care companies, HISC really stood out amongst its competitors due to the ethos and culture they uphold and the fact they are so passionate about providing quality person centred care. In my role as Registered Care Manager I ensure that the team at Greenwich and Bexley are compliant with CQC requirements and support both the CAREGivers and Clients with any concerns/queries which arise. I have always loved my job as it is extremely rewarding being able to help others, to meet so many interesting people from an array of backgrounds and the fact that no two days are ever the same.

I am a very social person so enjoy spending time with friends and family outside of work. Having grown up in a family where the majority were men, I also enjoy participating in martial arts and watching football on the television (I’m an avid Liverpool fan!). I am also an adrenaline junkie and have completed two skydives in which I raised money for the Alzheimer’s Society and for a hospice which had cared for a loved one.

Oana P

Oana P - Deputy Care Manager

Hi! I am Oana Popa, Deputy Care Manager at Home Instead Greenwich & Bexley. I started working in care whilst I was at university, as I needed a flexible part-time work to fit around my studies. I quickly realised that being a carer is about more than just giving medication and providing personal care; it means really getting to know your customers, understanding what they need and how to best help them – right down to remembering how they take their tea! For the past couple of years I worked as a field care supervisor, where I supervised the field-based care team.

This year, I decided that it was time to move on to the next challenge. After researching few care companies, Home Instead stood out the most. I was impressed with the fact that majority of their offices have an Outstanding rating with CQC, that they match CAREGivers to customers’ needs and preferences and that each CAREGiver is introduced to the customer before the visits.

I am pleased to be part of Home Instead team. I am looking forward to put the knowledge and experience gained, into my new role.

Kathleen McKnight

Kathleen M - Care Coordinator

Hi! I’m Kathy and I am the Care Coordinaor at Home Instead Senior Care- Greenwich and Bexley. I have worked in the care industry for the past 2 years and before that I worked at Mecca Bingo for 15 years. When an opportunity arose to join Home Instead, I did my own research as I hadn’t heard about Home Instead before and what I found out was amazing; I immediately fell in love with Home Instead and its ethos and culture.

I am so glad that I joined a company that strives towards changing the face of ageing and is the No 1 Care Company in the UK, having won Queen’s Award for innovation in care. Each client receives person-centred care at Home Instead and each visits are minimum of 1 hour, which means CAREgivers get to spend a quality time with their clients and build a meaningful relationship.

Apart from supporting my Care Manager and Director, my other main role is to Identify suitable CAREgivers for new and existing clients through our Client-CAREgiver matching process, I also plan and coordinate CAREgivers schedules on a weekly basis and communicate schedules to all relevant parties in a timely manner.

I really like my job as it is extremely rewarding being able to help others, to meet so many interesting people from an array of backgrounds and the fact that no two days are ever the same.

I am a very social person so enjoy spending time with friends and family outside of work and taking trips to the beach with my 2 children.

Pauline Cahill

Pauline C - Community Coordinator

Hi my name is Pauline, I work as a Community Coordinator at Home Instead Senior Care - Greenwich & Bexley.  Part of my job I network and coordinate various events in the local community.

Prior to joining Home Instead, I have been working with Age UK for the last 14 years, coordinating, facilitating and delivering various projects in the community.  I have know Fatta the owner of Home Instead - Greenwich & Bexley for many years, when the opportunity came up to join the amazing team, I did not think twice. I know Home Instead is a great company to work for, everyone in the office are very friendly and welcoming. Furthermore, I find the job very rewarding, and seeing smile in older people's face gives me satisfaction.

Jackie Baird - Recruiter

Jackie B - Recruiter

Hi! My Name is Jackie, I have been working as an Administrator and Recruiter at Home Instead Senior Care – Greenwich & Bexley since 2016.

Prior to joining Home Instead, I worked in various sectors, but, my most recent job was in retail, working as an administrator. When an opportunity arose to join Home Instead, I did my own research as I hadn’t heard about Home Instead before and what I found out was amazing; I immediately fell in love with love with Home Instead and its ethos and culture. Motivated by an appalling care received by parents, I decided to make my career in care industry so that I make difference in peoples’ lives and I found Home Instead to be the ideal company.

Apart from supporting my Care Manager and Director, my other main role is to recruit for CAREgivers. As a recruiter, when I interview a potential CAREGiver, I always take her or him through a “Mum Test”, meaning, would I employ the person to care for my mum, and I never go wrong. I am very proud of the amazing work our CAREGivers are doing day in day out.

I have to say that the job is very rewarding and fulfilling and most importantly, I’m enjoying it very much!

Phil B - Senior CAREGiver

Hi! My name is Phil and I am a Senior CAREGiver at Home Instead Senior Care - Greenwich & Bexley. I joined Home Instead in March 2019 as CAREGiver,  I was then promoted to Senior CAREGiver. Apart from delivering care, as a Senior, I my role is to support the CAREGivers and assist Registered Manager in clients services.

I have been working in care for over 10 years and have experience of working with various care providers. However, when my friend introduced me to Home Instead, I realised that there is no match for Home Instead; I was impressed by their person-centred care delivered in companionship-led care approach, minimum of 1 hour visit means I did not have to rush anymore and most importantly, all the CAREGivers have their own regular clients, which means continuity of care is top priority here at Greenwich.

Going to work with a smile on my face knowing that I am going to make a difference every day is priceless for me!

Fiona M

Fiona M - Senior CAREGiver

Hi, my name is Fiona and I was born and bred in South Africa. However, I have been traveling since my early twenties, and have since visited many different countries and islands. Such as India, Mauritius, Thailand, Italy, France and England, just to name a few. My family and I have lived in South Africa and England for the past twenty years and have since relocated back to England in 2018.

Having two daughters in my early twenties whilst traveling the world did put a halt on my career. However, I became a teacher assistant in 2008 at the school both my girls went too. In 2012 my sister was diagnosed with a brain tumour after having her new born baby. I instantly took on the role of caring for her whilst juggling my job and my own family.

My sister sadly passed away in 2015 and I was left severely depressed and traumatised, to the point where I couldn’t even enter a hospital or walk past an ill person without experiencing flashbacks of my sister.

With that being said, I suddenly felt a need to care for others and realised that this could be a way of personal healing.

I joined Home Instead Senior Care in February 2019 as a caregiver and got a promotion in February 2020 to Senior Caregiver. I do believe that this job is my calling as I have never been so passionate and happy. I do what I love, and that is helping others whilst putting a smile on their face and mine.

Jackie Pluck - CAREGiver

Jackie P - CAREGiver

Hi! My name is Jackie and I'm a CAREGiver at Home Instead Senior Care – Greenwich & Bexley, I joined Home Instead in 2015. Previously, I worked in schools, retail, and care. Most recently, I worked as a Carer with one of the well-known domiciliary care company but decided to leave as I was not happy there. I chose to work in homecare sector because I like the idea of providing care at home so that people can continue living in the community. However, not all homecare providers are doing what they supposed to do. In my past experience, I noticed that agencies are providing 15mins, half an hour call out, which means clients are rushed in this In and Out culture. When I came across Home Instead, I liked the relationship-based, person-centred care with a minimum of 1-hour call. I now can provide that highest level of care and also support my team to deliver the same level of care to our clients.

I really enjoy my job and am just glad that I’m a part of such a wonderful team at Home Instead Senior Care – Greenwich & Bexley.

Jess R - Admin/CAREGiver Experience

Hi, my name is Jess, and I am an administrator at Home Instead. I previously worked part time in a local school but now my children are older I feel I am ready for a new challenge. I have an interest in working in care because I cared for my nan who was living with dementia until she sadly passed away. I was so pleased when the opportunity arose at Home Instead because I knew it would be a perfect fit for me.

I think we provide an amazing, person-centred service with the needs of our clients always coming first. I am proud to represent this business, so much so that I would recommend my family to Home Instead.

Marlie is our wonderfully good natured Australian Shepherd who is part of our  Home Instead family here in Greenwich & Bexley. Although, he live with Jackie our Recruiter, he regularly attends the office. He played a very significant role in motivating our CAREGiver in Pursuing Excellent by Advancing Quality (PEAQ) 2019 survey at the office.
