70 Gift Delivered to Older People in the Community
11th December 2020, Home Instead – Greenwich & Bexley delivered 70 gift hampers to older people in the community who are lonely this Christmas under their “Be a Santa to a Senior” scheme.
“Be a Santa to a Senior” scheme is global movement initiated by Home Instead back in 2003 from United State of America. Home Instead – Greenwich Bexley has been running the scheme annually since 2015 when it started offering person-centered, relationship-led homecare services in and around Greenwich and Bexley boroughs.
Home Instead Key Players and CAREGivers work with local businesses, charities, and individuals from local communities to identify those who are older and feel isolated and less likely to receive Christmas gifts from anyone. The donations are collected from Home Instead CAREGiver, local supermarkets and local communities and wrapped and delivered by volunteers from Home Instead.
This year working with local Marks & Spencer, LIDL, Sainsbury’s, Skills & Care Greenwich and AgeUK, Home Instead managed to put-together 70 gift hampers and delivered to shelter accommodations and other older people in the community.
Sonia Thapa, director of Home Instead stated, “despite of difficult situation due COVID-19 pandemic, we managed to raise decent amount of donations and reach out to 70 older people and help spread Christmas cheer”.
