We run a monthly Memory Lane Café in Epping, for clients, their friends and family. It is a great afternoon and everyone enjoys it.
This month it happened to be Shrove Tuesday so we treated our clients to M&S pancakes, they were very popular and a great addition to our usual tea and biscuits.
We also had a few, chair based, exercises led by one of our clients, Betty, to work off the pancakes! Another client commented that she had never enjoyed doing her exercises as much and hoped Betty would do some more next month.
We had a number of puzzles for people to try and the last half hour was spent singing our favourite songs from years ago along to Kevin, one of our CAREGivers, playing on his guitar. It was great fun.
We also handed out leaflets about Epping Movies. A new, not for profit, event to be run for the first time this week and if successful may become a regular event. Three films will be shown on Sunday with the afternoon one being ‘Some Like it Hot’. They will be screened in the council offices on St John’s Street in Epping and there will be wheel chair access. Several clients thought they might go and try it out, and one client may go with her CAREGiver. More details can be obtained from www.eppingatthemovies.org. This is an example of an in-door activity we can take clients to when it is cold and miserable outside.
Our next Memory Lane Café will be held on Tuesday 21 March, 2017 at the Quaker House in Epping, from 2-4pm.
If you would like to come along please ring me in the office to reserve your place, Victoria 01992 666777 I hope you can come.
