Memory Lane Cafe

We held our first Memory Lane Café on Tuesday afternoon at the Quaker House in Epping and it was a great success.

We served tea, coffee and biscuits and had a sing-along of our favourite songs.

This was our first time at holding something like this so it was an opportunity for us to find out what those attending wanted to have included in the future. We discussed possible activities over our drinks, suggestions included: card games, bingo, carpet bowls, sing-along, pampering, guest speakers, crafts, exercises and trips out.

We plan to run a Memory Lane Café monthly except December as we will be having our Christmas party instead. The next Memory Lane Café will therefore be 27th January and the theme will be St Valentines.

Each event will have the opportunity to sit and chat with old friends and new over a drink and a biscuit and end with a sing-along.

We will tailor these sessions to what people want but our provisional schedule is:

27th January                           Valentine theme

24th February                          Quiz

31st March                               Easter Egg competition

28th April                                  Indoor Gardening

26th May                                  Crafts afternoon

30th June                                 Theatre

28th July                                   BBQ

Everyone attending had a super afternoon.

The song Apple Blossom Time brought back lots of memories to one of the ladies attending as it reminded her of her wedding day.

Some of the comments from those attending:

‘That brought back lots of memories’

‘I enjoyed that’

‘I did enjoy it’

‘All good rounder’

‘I think it is a jolly good way of getting us together’

A big thank you must go to Sue and Amanda for making this event so enjoyable. If you would like to come to our next event then please contact one of the office staff on 01992 666777 or email [email protected]
