Our CAREGivers love taking our clients out. Over the summer we have been to an exciting and interesting range of places. There have been, for example, day trips to Southend on Sea, Duxford Air Museum, The Orbit at the Olympic Park, Valentine’s mansion, Enfield Museum of Transport and Bethnal Green Museum of Transport.
Kevin took John to Enfield transport Museum. Just off the M25 at junction 26 is this lovely museum run by retired enthusiasts who were keen to explain the history of the many vehicles , including a motorbike used in a James Bond film and an old delivery van used in the recent drama series called Mr Selfridge. A delight!
John also went to Duxford Imperial war museum. This is a wonderful aircraft museum featuring many aircraft from the two world wars and up to and including an aircraft like 'Concorde'. It also includes many overseas aircraft including a hangar dedicated to the Americans. There is a minibus to take you between the various hangers (as it would take a long time and effort to walk the whole venue on foot) one could spend several days, let alone hours in a venue like this...excellent!
Bryan visited the orbit at the Olympic Park: Off the back of an amazing 2012 Summer Olympics, the legacy is there for all to see! The whole area has been transformed for the benefit of locals and tourists alike, it offer the most wonderful surroundings including all the stadiums, but it also includes beautiful landscaped gardens and park areas and many a café. The Orbit is the sculpture which was created a centrepiece to the whole park and a trip (by lift) is highly recommended. We were told that you can see for 17 miles radius of Stratford and the views were simply stunning. There is a cost for the visit but concessions are available and the staff were very helpful.
