Happy New Year 2021

Our 2020 December was very different from past Decembers.

We usually have a Home Instead Client and CAREGiver Christmas party with lots of singing, chatting and occasional dancing, this year this was not possible but we have booked Theydon Bois Village Hall for 15 December 2021. So, fingers crossed this will go ahead.

There were several office staff birthdays and Christmas themed events - all socially distanced affairs. Our Home Instead Epping Christmas events included Elf Day where, the office team members in that day, came dressed in Elf/Christmas dress and money was raised for charity. We also had 24 stockings hanging from the wall and every day, during our daily team huddle, one member of staff was picked for that days stocking. Each stocking had a small present within including, hand cream, nail varnish, face masks and so on.

Our Secret Santa was fun. All office staff took part and this event had to be part virtual so the office team members working from home could also open their present in front of everyone! ZOOM has become so useful! What would we have done without it?

We sent Christmas cards, calendars and puzzle books to our clients.  Our CAREGivers each received a Christmas bag of ‘goodies’ and a card.

My mother took three photographs and uploaded them into a website and made super Christmas cards. The three designs were based on:

  • Annabel, my 5-year-old daughter made a Rudolf Christmas picture.
  • Joan one of our clients drew a lovely Christmas hedgehog.
  • A photograph of our 2019 Christmas Tree which we had entered in the St John’s Church Epping Christmas Tree Festival.

We received lots of lovely Christmas cards from Clients, their families and from staff, with some lovely messages inside. Clients thanking us for all we do for them. One new CAREGiver wrote:

‘Thank you for making me feel such a part of your team which feels more like a lovely work family’.

These messages really made our day.
