Changing the face of homecare in Epping Forest
Our unique philosophy which sees homecare and companionship go hand-in-hand has received standout ratings from our clients and employees in brand new independent research. Thank you to all our clients and staff who completed the survey.
We deliver a relationship-led homecare service which helps older people to live in the comfort and familiarity of their own home as long as possible, our homecare visits last a minimum of one hour and we match our clients to dedicated CAREGivers based on common interests. There is always time to talk with the Home Instead way - which keeps loneliness amongst an ageing population at bay.
Now clients and CAREGivers in Epping Forest have given the unique model a huge vote of confidence – as both a homecare provider and an employer in turn - 100% of clients would recommend Home Instead, 100% of CAREGivers would recommend Home Instead Care’s services and 98% of CAREGivers say they would recommend Home Instead as a good place to work.
Home Instead believes the new independent research, carried out in December last year, is living proof that there is a better way to deliver homecare.
What clients said:
* 93% say their CAREGiver is well matched to their needs
* 96% say their CAREGiver arrives on time
* 98% say the office team are responsive to any queries I have
Clients made comments such as (as they were written):

“ I have nothing but praise for the level of care and support myself and both my parents have had over the entire time we have been using Home Instead. I really feel that there is a very genuine sense of compassion for the clients being cared for and for the family members. I feel like we are a team and wholeheartedly trust both the Head of Client Services and the carers who go into my parents’ home on a daily basis. I am kept updated on my parent's needs and any issues that arise promptly. The level of care is amazing and the carers really go above and beyond when it comes to making sure my parents are both safe and happy. The online app is very useful for keeping updated on the care visits and being able to read the carers notes is very reassuring. I don't know how I would have been able to cope without all the support I have received recently with the decline in both my parent's health over a very short time. Thank you all. ’’
Josephine P, Daughter of Client
The care that Home Instead provides is outstanding. They are very empathetic to my parent's needs and have shown great initiative in helping to make their lives more enriched. I feel very supported by them and feel much more confident that my parents will be able to stay in their home for longer.
Sara H, Niece of Client
We have been provided with a wonderful service. The manager responsible, and the three carers who, between them, called daily to provide companionship and help for my aunt, were unfailingly kind, professional, patient and resourceful.
They managed to be flexible with timings when visits to the GP or dentist were to be made and accompanied my aunt (I live too far away to help).
They managed her shopping and helped with some basic cleaning. Most of all, they patiently visited and made themselves into welcome visitors, for a very independent lady who wasn't sure she needed carers (even though she did)! We would highly recommend them.

We have been very pleased with the care provided, originally for my mother and more recently for my father. It has helped give the family peace of mind and enabled my parents to stay living in their own home for as long as possible.
Graeme I, cousin of Client
Without the carers daily visits, my cousin would not be able to cope. They provide companionship and make sure that he is washed and dressed and ready for the day. The back office help organise trips to the GP, dentists etc and keep me regularly informed on his well being.

I can't thank all the team at Home Instead enough. Whether it was the lovely ladies who answered the phone, those that were at the end of an email, those that came to every OT visit or the caregivers themselves, each one gave 110% to making sure my Granddad was happy. When you are in the final stages of giving palliative care, knowing you have that support around you keeps you going. They were attentive, gentle and thorough. Nothing was too much and they always did it with a smile, a laugh and were so friendly, no matter what they walked into.
I may not have used them for long but they very quickly became part of the team to ensure my Granddad had the most wonderful final moments and he thought they were all 'angels'.

Excellent service. Reliable and trustworthy. Carers are matched very well with client. Very good daily remarks on the App on the phone so if you are not near you can read comments as to the welfare of the client.

The Home Instead team look after my 90-year-old mother extremely well. They are very kind and friendly people and enable her to live independently at home. They make sure she is happy and healthy and will always go the extra mile when needed. A recent example was contacting the GP to arrange an appointment for her COVID vaccination. I would not hesitate to recommend Home Instead Epping to anyone worried about an elderly relative.
Spencer B (Son of Client)
As always, as a family, we have been delighted with the team at Home Instead. They seem to understand what is needed for our parents before we do and always with a sympathetic ear and can-do attitude. Thank you.
Review from K B (Niece of Client)
I would most definitely recommend Home Instead to everyone. Every member of staff is caring and very friendly. My aunt was very poorly and needed help getting back on her feet; Home Instead made this happen. There is nothing that is too much trouble. I felt happy that they were caring for my aunt as if she was their own relative. Top-class service; will definitely use them again.
Review from Debbie W (Daughter of Client)
I can highly recommend Home Instead care workers. They are very professional, well trained and equipped to deal with issues, in this case of dementia.
They are caring, patient and competent. They treat their clients with respect and build up a friendly relationship with them, feedback and support are
given to the family too.
Review from J O (Daughter of Client)
The manager and her team offer my parents kindness, patience and professionalism. I don't know how I would cope without their help. All the carers are so kind; they really make my parents laugh and relax. So pleased we are using Home Instead service.
Review from Emma R (Granddaughter of Client)
My Grandad had a fall in February 2020 and went into a care home for respite care. We wanted him home (as we have lived together for years) and knew we couldn’t cope on our own. Home Instead has been amazing! From helping us to get him home to dealing with doctors and medication and getting equipment
to make our home more comfortable for him. Nothing was too much trouble! Together we created a plan so he had visits throughout the day while we are not there. The staff are always there to support us as a family as well as Grandad. They make his meals and encourage him to eat and drink. They wash him and change his bed and most importantly they enjoy his company. We thought Grandad might not want people in to help (as he can be a little awkward when he wants to be) but he laughs and chats with them and tells us what we are doing wrong when we get home! Good care does cost, but it is well worth it! Our family is happy again! We couldn’t recommend anyone more highly! Thanks all of you!
Review from Maggie T (Daughter-in-law of Client)
I have been very impressed by the quality care that Home Instead has given my mother-in-law over the few years. Every carer has brought their own individual quality care, provided with warmth and a real concern for their client. They have all, apart from traffic problems, been arriving on time which some other care companies don't do; this for me is an important part of of the care package.
Review from Michael W (Son of Client)
We urgently needed care for my 90-year-old Mum following a fall and time in hospital. Home Instead came as a personal recommendation from a long term friend who's dad was being looked after by Home Instead in another area.
From our initial engagement with Home Instead, we were impressed by their knowledge, professionalism and helpfulness with absolutely no sense that this was about anything else than first and foremost getting mum the care and support she needed. From day one, Home Instead did not disappoint and despite it being the start of the Covid19 lockdown process they managed to flex their resources and capacity as mums needs and health changed. All the time delivering a knowledgeable, polite, professional and personal level of care to both my mum and our family across what was a difficult time for all of us.
I cannot recommend Home Instead highly enough for their approach and importantly delivery of care to mum.
Review from M P (Daughter of Client)
We have used Home Instead for nearly three years, only now leaving because, at the age of 103, Mum has finally had to go into a care home. My mother is basically fit, but frail and without Home Instead's help would have had to leave her home of 80-years much earlier than she did.
The girls started by making sure that she ate regularly, but towards the end of their care, they were performing made intimate services for her; which they did in a kind and dignified way.
The staff and carers have helped me and my family in managing ways, and I cannot sing their praises highly enough and would recommend them to anyone else in similar situations.
Review from C M (Daughter of Client)
I cannot fault the service we have had from Home Instead in any way. My mother has always resisted care in her home, but when she was forced to accept, suddenly, that she needed help, everyone made is so easy for her to come to terms with the change. She loves her carers and looks forward to seeing
them. They are gentle, kind, understanding and flexible. Home Instead has been especially efficient and thorough in arranging my mother's medication.
Son of a client we had cared for for many years.
I just wanted to drop you a note to thank you and your team for the outstanding care and love Home Instead provided to my father.
We were really touched by the number of his carers who came to the funeral.
But thank you again and for the advice you gave me about returning from Australia, which enabled me to spend a week with my father.
Thank you again,
Family of Albert who had been a client for many years.
‘Could I also put on record how wonderful the care from the team at Home Instead has been. Living 200 miles away, it has been a comfort to know that Dad was being looked after compassionately and lovingly by brilliant carers. The care profession often comes in for criticism but we found your organisation to be excellent.’
Peter re parents
‘For the last couple of years we have needed to contract with a specialist senior care provider for daily home assistance with my elderly and disabled father. Initially these services were provided by a large company whose provision whilst compassionate at delivery was absolutely woeful in terms of service provision as a whole with many delayed calls and complete no-shows. Upon recommendation, we have contracted the services of Home Instead for the past year and they have completely restored our faith in the system. They are organised, efficient and have never let us down ever. I cannot recommend this company more highly, the quality of service has been exceptional from taking on the provision through to end delivery. If you have experienced any of the issues or problems that I have described then consider Home Instead for complete peace of mind and a truly outstanding service that I am sure you would hope to provide to those members of your family that are so reliant on such services. Many thanks to all the team at Home Instead you have made such a significant contribution to the quality of life of my parents that it is impossible to express our gratitude in these few words.’
Betty F, Client Epping
‘Home Instead carers have made a huge difference to my life. They have enabled me to live independently and are wonderful. They will do anything for you and are so friendly.’
Dear Sandy, Caroline, Lorraine and your staff,
Thank you so much for all your care and support for Norman. You lifted such a burden of responsibility from us all by encouraging him to get up and take an interest in life.
He was so pleased to be able to speak to the people in the chemist, our newsagents and to talk to his neighbours again, which he used to do when he was well. Everyone commented on ‘Norman’s Angels’ and how well he was doing.
Your visits may have only been for a few weeks, but the sense of achievement he felt was immense. Learning to play cards and draughts (and winning) did so much for his wellbeing.
Thank you again,
Joyce & Family

To Everyone who makes my life easier….
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all staff at Home Instead. This was the first time we opted for my Dad to be cared at home instead of going to a care home. Clearly this was a success and something we should have done previously.
Every aspect of my ‘break’ worked and I can’t thank you enough. Without your help this would not have been possible.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
Richard, Nephew of client
Home Instead looked after our elderly aunt over a period of two years before she passed away. The level of care was consistently outstanding. Our aunt was really happy and comfortable. Our family live some distance away, and it was so reassuring to know that she was in such good hands. We met several caregivers and all were most helpful and considerate. Our aunt has nothing but praise for them. Thank you so much for everything.
Marjorie’s daughter, Epping
I want to say a personal ‘thank you’ to admin, managers and carers for all the care and support you have given over the last few years to my Mum, Marjorie, and me.
You gave Mum invaluable companionship and personal care when it was most needed and shared many memories and giggles together right up until the end.
Please be assured that she died peacefully in her own bed with family around her.
In her last few hours she managed to say ‘I have so much to be thankful for’! I know she would want me to say a big thank you to you, from her.
May I wish you all the very best individually and as a company. You do a great job!
I am writing on behalf of my sister Sue and I to thank you and your Home Instead team enormously for all the help and care that you have given to our mother, Daphne, over the last three years.
I have been very impressed by the way problems and difficulties have been dealt with and by the importance given to staff training. Please can you pass on our thanks and to Ma’s carers and the office staff.
Thank you too for your sympathy, help and cups of tea during difficult times. We have really appreciated your support. We hope that Ma will settle well to her new home. It is good to know that she will now have 24 hour care.
With all our thanks and best wishes, Jane and Virginia
Daughter of Jean (Theydon Bois), Jackie
Dear Carers, “Jean’s Angels”
Thank you doesn’t seem enough to say to each and every one of you, for the love and care you have given Mum day after day. She told us how the sight of your lovely smiling faces and cheerful personalities came peering round her bedroom door, lifting her spirits.
“Cup of tea Jean?” was your daily greeting along with gentle encouragement to try and prize her out of bed! The rapport that you built up with Mum meant that you always knew if she was feeling down or was poorly.
You went above and beyond your role to keep her safe and well.
Not living close by was difficult for us, but knowing that Mum was in your superb care put our minds at rest. You treated her as if she were part of your own family and I know that she loved you all dearly.
I sing your praises to everyone I meet when recalling the past months and the care that Mum has received. You have enabled her to continue to live in her own home and we shall always be in your debt.
A big thank you to Veronika and all the office team for endless patience.
Thank you, love from Jackie, Georgia, Amy and Ben
Suzanne, mother lived Buckhurst Hill
I want to take this opportunity to thank you and Veronika for all your support and patience over the past 20 months. I especially want to express my sincere and warmest thanks to all Mum's carers, Jean, Lorraine, Wendy, Tracy and Shane. They have been consistently genuinely caring, patient, respectul and supportive and I would be most grateful if you could pass on my gratitude to all of them.
I have been so impressed with the service that Home Instead has been able to provide, without which Mum would not have been able to remain in her own home for so long. I do wish Mum was able to return home in order that she could continue to benefit from the wonderful care you have given.
If I have any further news, I will of course contact you again.
Elaine re her father Nazeing
My father had several episodes in hospital - he is 86 - and needed immediate care at home, having reacted very unfavourably to any suggestion of residential care. This put a great deal of pressure on me - I live 20 miles away - and it was a huge relief to find Home Instead.
My father - who can be a bit difficult - has taken very well to the carers and is full of praise for them. They are all thoroughly sensible, professional and dedicated people who have made his life much better. They are also flexible and have accompanied him to later hospital appointments. They liaise closely with me and deal promptly with setbacks and emergencies.
I cannot speak too highly of them.
Stephen, father Chigwell
My Father was suffering with early stage Alzheimer's when my Mother passed away. Dad was fit and active but he needed a lot of support to remain living at home. The first care company I tried only used to spend a few minutes with Dad while they put a ready meal in the microwave oven and then they would leave before he had even eaten it.
Home Instead were infinitely better in every respect. They visited Dad with me and carried out a thorough care assessment. We agreed a care plan that was put in place immediately. All their staff were extremely pleasant to deal with and very professional at all times. The caregivers who looked after Dad were lovely and he really looked forward to their visits. They prepared proper meals, they obtained prescriptions and gave Dad his medication. They took Dad to the doctor and dentist and they also took him to social events arranged by Home Instead for their clients. They generally went above and beyond what I expected and I can't recommend them enough.
Adrian, re mother Epping
I think I speak for both myself and my brother when I say that the support that Home Instead has provided our dear mum over the last few years has gone way beyond our expectations. How blessed we were that you opened up in Epping only months before mum needed your services. Of course Karen has been really special and from the very outset she was the perfect care provider for mum with such a patient and understanding touch yet willing to go the extra mile time and time again. A real God-send! But really we are so delighted with the rest of the team who have been placed around mum more and more over the last year. They have been amazing and I have had the privilege of witnessing at first hand their love and care. Please do extend to each one a sincere appreciation from us for all they have done for mum over these last few years.
But may we also take this opportunity to thank you personally for the time and personal interest that you have consistent shown in mum’s welfare. It has given us real peace of mind to know that mum has been in such good hands when both myself and my brother are living so far away. We do wish you and the team every success and recognition for your highest customer service in the future and would readily recommend Home Instead to anyone.
Elaine, (client, lives in Nazing)
I just wanted to tell you how pleased we are with the carers who have been helping my father over the last few weeks. Living in London I find it difficult be on call for him all the time and he does have a lot of issues: but the carers have taken a great weight off my mind – more important my father really appreciates all the kindness and help they give him and is full of praise for them, and so are we. They are outstandingly dedicated people and my father is really lucky to have them supporting him.

I would like to take this opportunity to give you Mum’s carers my heartfelt thanks for the wonderful care she always received. It enabled her to live in her own home right to the end, always her wish. A very special thank you to Karen, who always went ‘the extra mile’ and Mum became very fond of her.
With my best wishes, Rita

Thanks to Jane and Kerry for their amazing kindness, far beyond the call of duty, to my parents for their diamond wedding last week. Very kindly orchids were bought, and songs from 1956 were printed out for them too, and these most personal touches were really appreciated by them, and the whole family too. Once again I appreciate all of your care, and your excellent staff, and I am delighted to let you know that to everybody I can only pass on excellent comments/ratings about your service, and there are NO negatives whatsoever! I have already recommended you to many folk! Thank you SO much, because this service has been such a wonderful help and comfort for us all.
I am writing to thank you for the service you are providing to my mother in law. It is only a few weeks since Kelly has been visiting but Lily never stops singing her praises. Only yesterday she was saying "Kelly is lovely, I do like her, she is so nice, I love her to bits" I can't tell you what a relief it is to find a Carer who takes her job seriously and finds time to engage with her client. Unfortunately Kelly is only required to do Lily's cleaning and laundry as her other care is provided by Social Services and leaves a lot to be desired!
If Kelly and Vicky are examples of all your Carers, which I am sure they must be, then you have a Company to be proud of.
Linda, Theydon Bois
I am writing to thank you, in particular Gill, for the support you have given myself and husband following my accident.
Having worked as a Social Worker and as a manager in a Voluntary Organisation which organised personal care services I am well aware of how difficult it is to provide really good domiciliary care.
We were very impressed by the way the agency is managed and run and Gill’s support, albeit for one hour a day, was invaluable whilst I regained my independence and also gave my husband some private time.
I am pleased to say that I am well on the way to full mobility.
We came to your agency through personal recommendations from people in the village and we will certainly recommend you to anyone who requires domiciliary support.
Thank you once again and I hope the agency goes from strength to strength.
Liz, A New Client's Daughter
What I can tell you is that my Dad rang me last Thursday to say what a gem Jane is…he said it twice! He relayed to me what Jane had done and how hard she works, and also said that there’s no fuss and bother, she just respectfully gets on with the job…..and better than just that, she doesn’t need him and so he has an hour clear to do other things! SUCH a help!
Please thank Jane from us all as we are delighted with this precious start, and know it will become even more of a blessing to them both as they settle into a routine and enjoy the help!
Thanks so much to you all for your kindness…you are definitely the best we could ever have found.
I can't thank you enough for everything you and the girls did for Mum. I know she would have liked to thank you. You helped us both so much in what was a short and difficult time. It was a pleasure to have met everyone of you-all so different yet all with hearts of gold and with one aim to do anything and everything to make Mum comfortable. Well, you all suceeded, so thank you again from the bottom of my heart, send my love and thanks to all her other "daughters" that cared for her. It really has been a pleasure to meet you all and to know you. Fond love to all of you
Hilly (Buckhurst Hill)
On behalf of Mum I would like to say thank you for the way you and your staff have been so reliable and caring towards Mum this year.
Your caring staff have all been excelent in the quality of their work and in the companionship above and beyond their remit.
Mum has enjoyed and looked forward to their visits which have been a real tonic to her social wellbeing.
Unfortunately she now needs full time cover, to which she agrees and is now settling in, albeit slowly, to her new home near me.
I have no hesitation in recommending 'Home Instead' to others. Thank you again.
When Mum was admitted to Hospital it was very clear she would not be able to return home without help. Mum has lived in the house for nearly 70 years and it was her wish to remain there. We told her about having carers and got the response I don't want strangers in my home, so we knew it would be a struggle but how wrong can you be.
Sue visited Mum in Hospital and they soon made friends. Sue's visit was to involve Mum and to understand what Mum needed in the way of care. This was done with much patience and kindness.
Sue visited Mum's home to see what she needed in the way of care and assisted living aids all done over a cup of tea.
Mum came home from Hospital and the care started. Things changed very quickly Mum looked forward to seeing her "little helpers" three times a day. The Carers come in for an hour each visit and the thought and kindness shown to Mum is exceptional-nothing is too much trouble they all go far beyond anything I would expect. The carers all seem to be local so can chat with Mum when she talks about places nearby and people she knows - this is a great help.
Mum has now put on weight from the 5 stone she weighed before. This is all down to the encouragement of the helpers but also the fact they involve Mum with as much as possible. Mum is now dressed in clean clothes and takes pride in herself again, the house is clean and tidy but most of all Mum is happy again in her home.
Home Instead have helped Mum so much but they have also given me peace of mind knowing they are looking after Mum they have become friends we know we can rely on.

This was written as a review on our facebook page - I believe my sister did send a card, but I have tripped over this FB account and at the time of the loss of my I didn't have room to focus on much else other than the loss of him - I'm sorry as this company should be recognised - So for anyone thinking of using this company know they care and know they will respond and support you. All the staff were lovely Josh Paul and Karen (the youngest looking granny) were particularly supportive. They respected my dad, his family and his home and I will always be grateful and in their debt. Thank you.

We received this from Bob’s daughter today, we cared for Bob for a few weeks until he died 14 May 2015. ‘As you can imagine the last few months have been difficult and harrowing. One of the few positives is the quality of care that Dad received from your carers, and in particular Josh, Karen and Paul. They always treated Dad with dignity and respect and took the time to engage with him as a person rather than only as a patient. They were also friendly and supportive to my family. Please express to them what a difference their kindness and humanity made.’
To everyone at Home Instead just to say thank you for caring so kindly and considerably for Dad over the past months. It was a difficult transition for Dad, as it is for anyone to lose independence, but you dealt with him admirably. It has been a pleasure to meet and speak with you. Best wishes for the future.
Sarah, Waltham Abbey
Home Instead has been a godsend to our family over the last year, and we are most grateful.
I could not be more delighted. I didn’t want care to start with but I am thoroughly enjoying it. My caregivers work very hard and still have time to chat, I feel thoroughly spoilt. My caregivers are exceeding my expectations.
After looking after my Mum and working full time you are god sent! Her house is so clean and I've got my life back. I am now back to being her daughter again.
Bryan, Buckhurst Hill
Kevin has made an immense difference to my retired life. I particularly enjoyed our trip to the Tower of London to see the poppies.
I would like to thank you, and your colleagues, for the help and support you gave my mother in the past: it may only have been for a relatively short period, but during that time it was apparent to me just how committed and professional an organisation you are.
Ian and Jane, Epping
Thank you so much for looking after my Dad. He was always brightened after seeing you and we appreciate all your help and advice.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your staff for all your help in the care of Gladys. Gladys really looked forward to her CAREGivers visit which started with a cup of tea and gradually they built up a good relationship which culminated in her helping Gladys with her personal care. Gladys found it difficult to accept she needed help with personal care. I would have no hesitation in recommending your company to anyone seeking care for a loved one.
Betty, North Weald
Thank you for all you have done for my husband. He enjoyed spending time with his CAREGivers as I did. I'll certainly be in touch if I need help again.
My CAREGiver's are pleasant and caring ladies. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they meet my every need, I would certainty recommend "Home Instead" to anyone else I know.

I would like to write to let you know how satisfied I am with your service. My carer is excellent she is helpful and nothing is too much for her. We have a great laugh and joke together and I would recommend her to anyone. I think I made a very good move when I chose your company I knew nothing about you and took pot luck. My last company sent many different carers turning up different hours or not at all I should have changed months ago. If ever I am asked if I know a care agency I would most definitely recommend Home Instead Epping
I want to thank you for the excellent care my mother received recently whilst we were on holiday. The friendly, personal service my Mother received made both her and myself feel confident for her to remain at home whist we were away. With many thanks.
I am so glad Home Instead was recommended to me. Home Instead were everything they said they would be. The carers were first class; friendly and caring. The service was everything one could wish for, most importantly for an elderly person living alone I felt secure. Even though I had a very supportive family in those first 2 weeks after the operation it was comforting to know the carers would be there for me. I have already recommended Home Instead to a friend and will have no hesitation recommending others to use their services.
The Caregivers have become my friends. They are very friendly and likeable people. They have helped me in every way even though I didn’t want them initially!
You and your staff have been exceptionally kind and caring and have helped me through a very difficult time with great compassion. The service you have provided has been invaluable and I am most grateful and appreciative of your "personal touch". Thank you.

"I needed a carer but she’s become my friend, we are not numbers as I felt when Social Services called."
