Local Care services come together for the community

A number of local organisations specialising in elderly care have teamed up with the Sawbridgeworth office of at-home care provider, Home Instead Senior Care, to run a monthly event that will provide the local area’s elderly community with information about support services that are available in the area.

The first event will take place on Friday 18th February from 10am to 1pm.  It will be held at the Apton Centre in Bishop Stortford and will continue to run on the 3rd Friday of each month.  Organisations taking part include Age UK, Autumn Years Financial and Legal Support and Lilly Pins Hairdressers.

Commenting on the new initiative, Head of Care at Home Instead, David Bassett said: “The information days are a great opportunity to get all the advice you could need about care services in the area.  A Guest speaker will give a short talk at each event.   The organisers are keen to welcome as many elderly people as possible to the events and are happy for them to be used as a drop in centre.  For example, if local families who care for an elderly relative need time to run errands they can drop their relatives off for a cup of tea and cake.  The fact that we specialise in Alzheimer’s and dementia care means that everyone is welcome and can be confident they are in a safe environment.”
