Being a CAREGiver
I’ve been with Home Instead for over two years. Previous to this I had worked with Social Services in the community. Unfortunately, several changes occurred which meant the care I had been used to giving changed and I couldn't give the time I thought my clients deserved, so I left and retired. Three years in I started to get a little bored. I saw a flyer for Home Instead and loved all that I read about the Company so applied and became a Caregiver.
I love all my clients dearly and although I do things as second nature, my clients appreciate it so much. One of my clients always has a microwave meal, so I decided to surprise her with something different. I brought in some potatoes and egg, and made her ham, egg and chips. She was in heaven. That for me was the ultimate in job satisfaction. I love this job and really hope I can continue for many years to come. It’s definitely keeping me young and healthy!
All of the carers that have visited mum have been super. They get on well with her and I know they brighten her day. As I live some way away I am so happy and confident with the care she receives.V.C
